After the successful launch of the Amaze, the Japanese major Honda is planning to unveil Honda Mobilio MPV at the 2013 Indian Auto Expo, which is scheduled to start from 7th Feb. The vehicle has been recently unveiled in Indonesia and expected to launch in India in April 2014. In Asian markets, Honda is playing a clever game with its Brio platform and the upcoming Honda Mobilio will be the third product to share its platform.

Honda has done a pretty good body job with the all new Mobilio, though it instantly feels like an extended Brio. However, it resembles close enough to the Honda Amaze. The wide front grille with bold chrome strip looks very stylish. The fog lamps are neatly integrated into the bumper. With strong body build and 4.4 meter of length, the Mobilio will mark an excellent road presence.

The 185mm of ground clearance offers a comfortable driving pleasure even on broken surfaces. The side profile is managed by the large alloy wheels. The well-proportioned rear with split tail lamps and rear windshield wiper give a true masculine personality to the vehicle.

Expected to share interior with Brio and Amaze, the Honda Mobilio will bring a great sense of comfort. In a bid to keep the cabin airy and bright, Honda used light shade beige theme. The front row will certainly offer ample legroom and shoulder room. It will be quite spacious from inside to accommodate seven passengers at ease. The seats will be well-cushioned and comfortable like the Honda Amaze.

The foldable third row will be sufficient for kids, but not for adults. The boot space can be extended by folding the third row. However, the feature list won’t be that impressive for its base variants, but the top-end variants are expected to get an audio system with Bluetooth and various other comfort features.

The top-end variant will be assembled with the advanced ABS (Anti-lock brake system) with EBD and Brake assist, airbags and several other standard safety features such as seat belts, seat belt reminder, Immobilizer, child lock and more.

The Honda Mobilio will be power-packed with a 1.5-litre turbocharged Earth Dreams diesel powertrain, which is also found under the Amaze. This unit develops 100PS of peak power and a torque of 205Nm. The Mobilio will share the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine with the Honda City. This engine will churn out a maximum power of 100PS and torque of 200Nm.

Rumour has it that Honda might also a sub-4 metre version of the car and fit in Amaze’s 1.2-litre petrol mill to price it more competitive.

The petrol version of the car will be offered with a five-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission, while the Mobilio diesel will have a manual transmission gearbox. The Mobilio petrol will deliver an impressive mileage of 18kmpl, while the diesel engined powered version will be as fuel efficient as the Amaze. The NVH levels and body roll are expected to be well-controlled for enhancing the ride quality of the vehicle.

The double wishbone front suspension, well-build chassis and 2650mm of wheelbase will add more to its drivability.

The upcoming Honda Mobilio MPV will be an answer to the Maruti Ertiga and is likely to be priced around Rs 6-6.5 lakh, with the top-end diesel variant going around Rs 9 lakh.
