VFR 400 NC24 Honest review!

i purchased my VFR a month or so ago, i also owned one about 5 ago as well, i have owned a variety of bikes since i was 16, so i im pretty used to good and bad of bikes!

I,ll start the front and work backwards!

wheel is 16 inch, which is a due to the fact that there is a tyre choice, my bike has battleaxe bt45s which i really like, allthough maybe the fact im not used to the yet!

The front forks are soft, (probably due to this a jap import bike and beeing for 8st japanese people not 14stone like myself!) but this really a problem in every day

As far as i can gather from forums and my ownership fork seals fail very often.

Steering head bearngs to be fine as these bikes get wheelied to much.

The front are ok. but mine has standard hoses and standard pads, it feels a bit but im certain this is just old hoses and dodgy pads! be upgrading to braided hoses and decent pads in the near

The front light is fine memory as my bike has a different set up to standard.

The tank is fairly in its capacity, allowing about Ј10 of (at 1 quid a litre) but has a very to use reserve/on/off tap, sounds but the last thing you want is out on the fast lane of the motorway and to fiddle for ages trying to to reserve as is the case on a lot of bikes!)

The is comfortable enough allthough you wont be to happy after than 150-200 miles!

The seat is not a good place to my girlfriend hates it with a its hard, uncomfortable, slopes and just isnt nice!

is an absolute peach! a fantastic V4 a fair amount of low down (for a 400. ) and screams a banshee all the way to 13,000 rpm, the is very unique as the nc24 has driven cams as opposed to or belt like most they seem to be very engines as long as looked

The problem with the engine in the actual engine but its in the exhaust. the boxes on these bikes rot a amount. not normally a problem on inline 4 cylinder bikes but this is a V4. so unfortunately the engine has to be to replace either the 2 rear or the collector box. a very consuming job, but can be done if handy with spanners, a good tool kit and a decent to work in, allthough actually a collector box will be a mission! are not made anymore so finding a one is hard, some go for Ј180 hand on ebay! OUCH! could make a lot of money if made up some stainless

The engine does run hot, a bit to begin with but this is allthough a bit uncomfortable at times.

If you do buy one of bikes, get a sports exhaust! i a scorpian stainless can and link on mine and it sounds absolutely ive had cbr600,s zxr,s fzr,s etc etc and of them have sounded as i love going through and underpasses to hear the sound off the walls!

The electrics are woefull! the charging circuit is. if you are reading then you may be looking to buy an nc 24, the problem the charging circuit starts the battery. people neglect it, and in this cooks the regulator/rectifier. and in this ruins the alternator. its a common problem and can be very diagnosed and if caught early may be the price of a new battery! The rear shock is a good and is preload adjustable, seems offers good damping allthough due to age mine could do a rebuild.

The handling is different when you ride the bike! it seemed odd to me ridden bikes with 17 inch tyres, the handling is fast, the bike litterally into corners without an eyelid, and holds a line beeing a small bike it intimidate you, and you can wind on the a long time before you can on a and hold some huge speed in the process! i have many a rider of bigger by diving up the inside!

Economy. is average i havent worked it out but i imagine its about if ridden normally.
