It’s Back! The 2014 Valkyrie

Ten years ago, left the power cruiser when it put to rest the remarkably yet funky second generation the Rune. Many considered a wise choice. Seemingly as an exercise in craftsmanship, the idea was on, the price, however, not so much.

the Gold Wing a golden strip off the touring weight and keep the roar and power of the engine… bring the styling down to earth and Honda’s in the game with the return of the “Today a motorcycling icon in an all-new form,” said Press Manager Bill

Given the same stylized of Honda’s horizontal design they return to the mega-cruiser with a more modern, yet futuristic” package. Again the same 1,832cc Gold transplant it received in 2003, the takes a fresh step the future with its 2014

Honda isn’t quite to let the automatic transmission technologies in other current models the CTX700) into the pavement 2014 Valkyrie. Not yet anyway. But the Concept they showed at the Motor Show in 2007, its “Human-Friendly Transmission,” isn’t too far here now!

Under the of a full moon, Honda America engineer Tony rolled the new Valkyrie across the of the Petersen’s Auto Museum in Los CA, to the waiting motorcycle press. with the familiar Gold whirr but with a beefier note, the new Valkyrie slipped the room with a presence “Neo-Retro” than the first and much more likeable. slash cut exhaust tips, a forked front end, and friendly Honda look more “present day” modern. Press relations Jon Seidel is simply “excited to it back!”

First thing we notice is it’s not only a long (with a wheelbase of 67.2-inches) but a wide bike. In fact, major dimensions are the same as the and F6B, although the subframe along with the saddle Even without all the Gold luggage and bodywork, the flat six and radiators make this a machine. It is great for rider protection though.

And with a low 28.8-inch saddle it’s not an uncomfortable bike, not in the anyway. Removable passenger rails and pillion pad make brawler a solo street as well.

The Valkyrie weighs 750 pounds ready to ride, is 154 pounds lighter than the Wing.

A sportbike-like aluminum frame (same as the other of the Gold Wing family carries all that goodness a pair of relatively narrow even the CTX1300 has a larger tire. A nonadjustable 45 mm cartridge carries the front with a rate yet to be announced while the Pro Arm single-sided swingarm has a remotely Pro-Link single shock.

The 10-spoke cast aluminum carry a 130/60 19-inch up front while the rear is a 180/55 17-inch. A pair of rotors are clamped by dual calipers up front, in the rear a 316mm rotor works a three-piston caliper to get the job done. An ABS will also be available.

At a when Honda continues to new units aimed at the incoming class with economical, and fun to ride motorcycles, it’s to see them bring back an for the seasoned veterans too… I wait to ride it!
