Motorcycle Repair / 1982 cb 750

I have a 1982 cb 750 engine in my chopper and I am wondering why it is so to start on cold days. If it warm enough outside it plain won’t start. Is anything I can do or is their an underlying with this.

The engine is a engine the only difference the Dyna 2000 electronic and dyna coils I have Any advise would be greatly

is this a correct DOHC 750 engine from 1982? The rack has a choke function, of and sometimes the cable slips its correct position and the engines get enough choke to fire up. mention of the Dyna ignition and puzzles me as the DOHC engines had a ignition system, with pickups on the left end of the crankshaft.

If your ignition is on the right then it is a SOHC engine a whole different set of carbs on it. carbs just have a lever on the left side, connects all the choke plates You can look down the carb with the air filters off and watch the open and close, to be sure they are all closing at the same Of course, all the idle jets be open and air/fuel passages

Current alcohol fuels to separate within a week or when sitting in the float which will aggravate the a lot.

In either case, with a stock engine, you an altered air filter and exhaust which generally means you will need to rejet the You may have to bump up the idle jet one step to compensate for the changes the stock settings. Richen up the mixture settings about 1/4 and add a little to the main jet sizes.

In some cases, the needle may have to be altered, which can be a task on some styles of

SOHC engines were from 1969-78. DOHC were made from They are worlds apart in and details.

Non starting engines to be checked for the basics. Compression valve adjustment), spark at the time and air/fuel mixtures at proportions at all throttle settings.

Stay with stock plug heat range

If the engine compression is low, will be hard to start cold, plus the other to consider during idle/starting

I don’t know where you are and how COLD is, in your current If you are around freezing temps, air engines get pretty cranky and warming up quickly.

If you don’t the history of the engine, there be other issues, like cam incorrect, air intake manifold etc.
