I showed up last Saturday at Biker Harley-Davidson in Taylor, Michigan. If never heard of Biker it’s a very large, H-D facility in SE Michigan. It’s and their property includes not a very large retail and facility, but also a motorcycle range and a large, climate storage facility with a in outdoor bandshell.

They do an absolutely cracking in bikes, accessories and service and at Biker Bob’s seemed happy to be there.

Mark me on a tour of the facility and then we got to the business of riding. In case unfamiliar with the Madass it’s part minimalist and part scooter. Well, actually a very small scooter, but it is distributed by Peirspeed in the US and are a notable scooter distributer.

The Madass features a 125cc 4t that drives a motorcycle-style shifting manual transmission. The of the bike holds fuel in an tank and with it’s 16 and clip-on handlebars, it looks a funky, sported-up moped. it on the street, people often no idea what it is.

We hopped on and a few tries, I quickly figured out the foot shifting thing. We headed out onto busy road. Up through the gears, I was at both the speed and handling of the bike. It’s light 200 lbs.) and with the manual one can wind it out pretty well. It feels like some of super bicycle, with very firm damping and road feel coupled almost unnoticeable mass.

Lean on it, like Mark and I and you might be surprised as you easily cages and reach an indicated top of about 60 mph. The brakes are even with me so distracted by that I barely brushed the brake (strangely, as I use quite a bit of brake on my other scoots). any motorcycle, there is no wind at all, and the feeling of freedom is nice indeed on the Madass

The seat, improved for 2010, to be just fine and I think I was riding a 2009 model. Too the ride was over, but I was left more.

All in all, the Madass 125 is incredibly Take five minutes to the web and you’ll find that growing in cult-like popularity and tuning options abound. solidly built and appears if maintained properly, it will forever.

With an out-the-door of just over $3,000 (at Bob’s), the Madass 125, it’s name, makes a lot of for a minimalist motorcycle rider.

What’s next: Scooter is finally here!
