My love for the Blata Origami in April last year. I was online and came accross a selling Blata mini When I saw the Origami B1, I thought, that bike looks so Then I saw the price tag! There is no way that I was prepared to that kind of douly-mouly on a at that time — let one without any gears.

Time and the first Chinky Chonk started to hit UK shores. Hmmm, I to myself, they can’t be much different than the ones can they. . So I bought my rep for a princely sum, with the of upgrading parts where That was 5 months ago.

I still have not ridden the as I am still waiting on the last of the to be delivered.

Below is the post I made on Pocket Bike (I couldn’t be arsed to retype it. )

it has been 5 months since I began this project. I a generation 1 C1 in October last I didn’t even put gas in the bike, I stripped it down to its bear to see what I would like to My intentions were to build a that would be 10HP at the and be a reliable long lasting

I hadn’t intended to go so far with it

My thoughts were, stick a carb on it, some half tyres, a Blata piston insert, then rebuild decent gaskets — job

At the time of purchase, I couldn’t a new Origami B1, but could afford to get the and some upgrades later on I Well, it took me a time to get the inlet manifold (about 4 mainly due to other comitments) and I to build other parts of the in that time. Which rewelding and painting the frame and a host of other things, stripping the case and chamfering and the ports.

During this time, I met a lot of online and learned a lot about the in general. After stumbling a Blata supported UK forum, I met Sellars, and discovered to my delight, he had some nice Blata for sale. He had a brand new ceramic B1 cylinder + flat top piston and compression head insert, and a new race crank. Mmmmmmm, I I gotta get me some ‘o

So I did.

By now (some 4 months buying the bike), things begining to take shape. The was finished and parts started to left right and centre. was looking good, until I to get cold feet on the whole I had concluded that I had gone too far this project and spent far too After much deliberation, I not to sell the whole thing, but to it off and decide from there if I to keep it.

Well, if I am in for a penny, I am in for a pound. I got a crankcase and built the engine the parts from Trevor and before I had really thought it, I realised that the only parts of the original bike I would be using were the and pull start. Whoops!

I have done it again! into the building without a goal. I am the sort of person gets totally into probably far more than is for me.

The bike is 98% finished. I am still for a couple of parts to get it running should be here in a week or so. But for here are some pictures to you all what I have been up to for a while (it seems like a ago!)

Here is a list of of the parts used in the build:

Handbuilt Factory Blata engine (Flat top piston, compression head, ceramic cylinder/chrome piston ring, racing crank and SKF main and Blata seals)
