I’m for chassis geometry specs for Maicos. Could you help me Send me in the right direction? for your time.

Your best bet is to get a Maico and measure everything A word of caution: the wheelbase vary from 55 1/2 to 57 inches, on the rear wheel adjustment. thing many builders take into consideration is the distribution.

On the 1973 Maico 400, the distribution is almost a perfect

great info i have rejetted my 2005 and it is much better i am now considering to modify the front forks and the chance of buying some cr 250 forks which have had use i can stand them raising the height but will the yokes fit on the and also would i be able to run the cr 250 wheel? thanks for your

Wakefield, UNITED

The 1995 forks were and you’ll have to use the ’95 wheel with those To fit the forks to your 230 frame, follow the directions in the Project series. You can slide the forks up in the clamps and the seat height not change much.

Hey Rick —

I to read your blurb in DB back in the 80’s. I wasn’t if you were still around I did a recent search on the www.

1988 I have owned I just found out — to you — is a 198(4,5,6?) M-Star 500 SC. I knew all along it was a mid 80’s 500

cc I just didn’t know to call this tall with an SC on the seat. There are no on the tank.

Anyway — I ridden the bike in over 15 but it was running good when it was started. My question is: what I do with it? Is it, or will it ever be a item? If not, is it a worthwhile to race in vintage circles? I don’t know what qualifies for vintage — I figure 25 years is getting up in bike years)

I plan on getting back riding soon and was thinking the vintage route might me a buck or two. BTW — I a 78 MC440 and a 80 PE400 that be candidates as well.

Let me know you think.

From an old, and older fan.

Marysville, Wa (the STATE)

The you have is a 1984 M-Star, so by Ted Lapadaikis, the Sachs/Hercules distributor in the US. The was made by Maico and never well. After the fall of in 83/84, the dealership network apart.

The bike you see here has stickers on the tank, as well as the logo on the saddle.

Read On. you may to wait a few moments for all the pages to

I must be losing my mind. I scoured my D rt BIke mags and not find the article. I thought you at Dirt Bike had an article on a IT175 end piece to a IT125 for bottom end response.

I have all the Dirt Bike mags and find this article. any of my incoheriant babbling ring a

Nope, Dirt Bike did not run an article.

i a 1986 YZ250 and it is leaking a flow of black oily from the crankcase overflow why does it do this and can i fix this?

Armstrong, CANADA

are you have a bad water pump and it’s pressuring the trans. no such thing as a crankcase tube on a 1986 YZ250.

Hey i think u are a jerk the way u annser people who u with a problem U know not is a master meckanik or has a collage so there u can go %$((^$*)$# yourself.

Dan the Man

Hmmm. Is it possible you are less than satisfied I mean u) with my performance? Now go and don’t get in a race with a KTM 525 in the

There, your YZ80 might not rule.

I wonder if you can answer a question I have about my 1978 This bike is all original and I it from a guy in 1982 that it semi-professionally. He informed me that the was race prepped by Suzuki and added an extra clutch to the clutch package so that the power would not slip the

In fact, you cannot totally the transmission using the clutch the extra disc. He also me three different exhaust and a couple of extra rear for it when I bought it.

It still real strong, my only is that it is hard to start and to have a weak spark kicking it over. Is there that I should look for in the system? Also, I will be selling this bike in the future to finance a couple of for my family. Any ideas mwhere I can people interested in this bike?

Thanks in advance.

The who sold you this bike are your chain. You just add a clutch plate to a bike. bike is not a real collector’s

Basically, you have an old 400 RM that’s about 800 bucks if it’s in decent condition.

Any advice, now or save the Maico 83 490 spyder for day. I am 2nd owner(85) and its mmaculate(close any idea of a fair value

mike garcia

I bought a clean 83 490 for about $1500, so it from there.

I have a 1975 KX400 an annoying penchant for missed It happens while racing, shifting and all, usually not restricted to) between 3rd and 4th gears, in a wild over-rev and often a of position! Shift action is but is a real bear to find while the engine is running. last race was extremly The bike was idling in neutral a moto, caked with

I rev’d the motor to shake muck loose and the thing into gear all by itself! replaced the 3 return springs on the shift mechanism to no avail. I clutch springs.

Any ideas?

You probably have rounded (the splines on the back of the gears) that let the bike out of gear. And consider this: bike is over 35 years old and the gearbox could be badly

you really get me mad when you rag on the YZ490. Did you that there is a large of 490 fans and we share information each other to keep beasts alive and running Sure I have some problems to work out but nothing is

An apology is in order.

Frank W.

Why the YZ490 has fans is beyond me. I tested the YZ490 back in the the vibration ripped the calluses off hands at the end of two 45 minute motos. In of the efforts of the factory Yamaha the bike was impossible keep correctly with a temperature of 10 degrees.
