German Motorcycle Maker Horex Unveils New VR6 Classic

German motorcycle manufacturer Horex has unveiled a new Classic model based on their VR6 Roadster. The company which is about 93 years old has two models currently in production including the new VR6 Classic. Built with exceptional workmanship and finest details it has a timeless design inspired by Horex road going and race bred motorcycles.

The firm which is quite popular in Germany responded to the needs of their customer for a motorcycle with old school looks and modern performance. The new VR6 Classic brings wire-spoke-wheels, new red paintjob and improved engine performance. As far as the design is concerned the new Horex model has smooth contours on the engine cover and V-Shaped trim on either side. These classic elements including the analogue speedometer and tachometer gives it a timeless look and feel.

The new bike is built by hand at the Horex motorcycle factory at Bad Homburg, Germany.

It has a 1218 cc six-cylinder VR6 engine set at 15° V-angle with mirrored cylinder offset that makes 126 Bhp of power at 8500 rpm and 120 Nm of torque at 7000 rpm.  It has triple overhead camshafts (TOHC) and 3 valves per cylinder.  The VR6 Classic is said to have amazing low-end torque and smooth power delivery.

This is due to the engineers carrying out necessary changes to the engine and exhaust system. It has a 6-in-to-2 exhaust that is built to reduce backpressure and improve torque curve at lower engine speed. The engine mapping has been altered to produce better low-to-mid-range performance.

It brings a six speed manual transmission gearbox and hydraulically operated clutch and power is transmitted to the rear wheel through chain with permanent solid lubrication.

Horex has set a price of €24,500 which converts to around ₹20.80 lakhs before taxes. Although its unlikely that we would see this coming to India, it would make a fantastic motorcycle to ride. Much like the Brough Superior we reported yesterday.

The new Classic model has upside down forks with adjustable preload, compression and rebound damping. At the rear it has a Sachs suspension unit that can be adjusted for preload, rebound and compression damping.

The wheels have a classic styling but brings modern engineering. The spoke-wheels infact sport tubeless tyres. It brings a 120/70 ZR 17 tyre upfront and 190/70 ZR 17 tyre at the rear. Precision engineering by Horex makes it possible to mount tubeless tires on spoke-wheels and ensure excellent wheel stability. With a total dry weight of around 249 kgs it is indeed a heavy motorcycle.

It has a fuel tank capacity of 17 liters and an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.
