it is from the horses mouth. The letter was posted to the Rokon Message Board Forum by Larsen, the founder of Rokon-.

5:35 PM Friday January 22, To my buddy SYCO: When the new company to build the TBs I wanted to get a name like Radar or spelled the same front or I had been a professional skier in and had the opportunity to come to the US and start a new ski in Vermont, We called it Mt.

Snow it was named after the owner of the Snow) after getting the ski going, (I was the general manager and ski school director) and it became successful, I built a lodge to to the winter and summer business. the excavation for the main building, the that we bought the land came by to have a look at we were doing.

There piles of rocks heaped all the place from the excavation, and the land owner said this place is really on the so that is what we named our When I was looking for a name for the new TB I bastardized On The Rocks to ROCKON, but it did not good in print, so I changed it to and that is how it all got started. Sorry temporally impaired people pronounce it ROWKON, but then the lord told us to be tolerant.

For an story on the history of the Rokon- HERE

The of the proper oil/fuel ratio is the NUMBER ONE question that asks and nobody can agree on. The owners manual recommends However in the field Rokonites are ratios from 16:1 all the way to depending on the type of oil (regular or and the time of month. Three you never want to discuss in company are.

Religion, and What mix do you recommend?

You would be to run a good grade of 2-… oil or motorcycle) at 20:1. A synthetic be safe at around 50:1. milage may vary.

The stock plug for the 2-… is a Champion L90-C Copper Recently Champion changed the number of the L90-C to #896. You can use any you prefer that crosses to number.

Gap is .030.

The Rokon- comes a choice of 3 wheel types. The common type is a 15 tube aluminum drum wheel can hold 4.5 gal of your choice of (gas, water, scotch, etc.) or be left to provide flotation. The most size tire is the 6.70×15 Shur-Trac implement tire.

is the familiar V lug tractor tire. Goodyear has come out with tread design in this that has a little better traction, it is a 5.90X15 and has a cup tread Recently Rokon has introduced a 12 drum wheel as an option. The type of wheel is the 12 spoke

It is a steel tubeless rim with 5 diameter radial spokes. The are the same front to back for types with the exception of the wheel on the rear wheel only RT-140. It has a large disc in place of a sprocket on the wheel. On the steel wheels the is welded on, the aluminum wheels use bolt on or pressed on sprockets. is a picture of the various wheel

They all use #40 chain. While the 15 is limited in the type of tire for it the 12 wheel can use any 12 ATV tire up to an 8.50x23x12. As a Rokon used two different diameters over the years so if you your wheel bearings the old ones with you to the parts to match them up.

Most prefer to use the sealed type as a replacement.

nbsp PARTS

The Rokon- has remained almost since the beginning. Why mess it if it ain’t broke. There been a few changes over the but basicly there is a lot of interchangability models and as the Rokon- is still in many parts are still from the manufacturer. In addition parts (bearings, seals, gears, motor parts, etc.) can be at your local auto or lawn equipment store.

For of the harder to find or more parts you can advertise in your paper or search online at auction or auto-trader sites. is a parts wanted and a for sale at the Rokon World Message Forum on Delphi. Here are other parts links and a of common parts numbers for you can buy locally.

u-joint_APEX#20D250. Dave adds info regarding the replacement sold by Rokon.

See rokon or dealer for about $ 200. You get a new that has sealed needle and no bulb seal. Rokon tell you it is interchangable and can be used on all That is not quite true 1969 bike you may be OK. I ordered neat unit.

Made I suspect — but nice. I had a few with it. *older bikes, my 68 used a straight key in the front of the The bores in the original APEX interfaces are only open on one end this configuration captures a key.

The new joint has the bores on both ends. straight are not captured and could fall These new joints have to be to add a feature (drill hole and use a pin) to captivate the straight used in older bikes. The to this is to use a new drive line drift key (self captivating).

I believe rokon didn’t this. *The other I encountered was the distance of the roll pin to end of the u-joint (too large). I placed the u-joint on the front (stock shafting) the end of the u-joint hit the before I could line up the to install the roll pin. I had to off about .020 to get it too work end of the u-joint).

These issues bother me too much because I had the to deal with it. I did think how I would be if I did not have the capacity to the problem. For 200 bucks/per a customer not have to deal with especially if he/she is relying on machines for work and well I also feel that I not have to waist my time in all this to the factory.

So i didn’t. now shopping for APEX joints. In the I have modifyed APEX P/N joints. These joints to be shortened on miterbox end and you have to add pin hole.

According to the new catalog you could use 300-D-20-12-6C. This has keyways in ends (the other one I only has keyway in one end). one also needs to be shortened and roll pin hole added. David

air (water resistant type). brings us this little went all over Anchorage to find replacement air filters for my It was looking like it was time to order direct from International. I tried all the auto places and several small shops to no avail. I even the various filter numbers Rokon web sites.

The last engine shop I went said he did not have anything it and his books did not show any cross I guess he was looking for something to do he offered to look through his room for anything similar. he said, how many do you need? He out a couple and also the whole kit the filter and mounting plates. are exactly the same. He said he had there for years and had never one before.

His supplier is Wacker. numbers are 2005308 for the filter and for the kit. The price was about the as Rokon, but I am now able to buy them and not mess with shipping and

He also said he doubted the Wacker numbers would reference to any other manufacturer.

gas cap_OMC#388933—Stant #11623

says this: I have a gas cap fits and looks better the Stant. It’s from Choice from Nempco. #49-0447 Says: Early cap. ’36-early ’73, single and right fat bob tanks. OEM #: so with that # you can order one any Harley related shop.

The I like it better than the is that it looks like a M/C gas It’s smaller, flatter and has the grip on the outside where you need to open it. I haven’t tried the test because the bike is for shipping and all the gas is out of the tank. I imagine it leak like the rest of do but drilling a hole and installing a fitting looks easier on a Stant.

It might work alot because it was designed for a motorcycle and my on my old Shovelheads didn’t leak. I didn’t used to ride my up and down the Rubicon.

wheel (AKOUTDOORS adds this I have an early 90’s MK7 with the 15 drum wheels. The bearings are the same as the miter box Federal-Mogul 204-BBAR, or General 8504.

Other possible are Granger 5U492, NTN SC0440 The older wheel bearings are smaller)

This just in RATKILR: ( He has a set of early 12 spoke that are bored 1 5/8 all the way through the DRUMWHEEL says the 12 wheels both ways, either smooth or with an internal to hold the bearing. The smooth hubs require a flanged like RATKILR describes, the bore hubs can use the NAPA bearing. Also try to use a sealed not a shielded one.) ——

I found a bearing with 3/4 ID, 1 5/8 5 width with extended race, dual seals and a outer race of 1 3/4. It is by General Bearing Corporation in NY. # 32662-88. Has a rated load of lbs with max speed of 2500

The only thing is that distributer had none and had to go factory with minimun order of 10. that way.

one way clutch (2BY adds this From: Glenn (2BY) The # RCB 162117 is the exact bearing for the Clutch. Someone had posted RCB FS. this is the same bearing but it stainless springs inside it for lockup. The plain RCB bearing springs integrally molded the cage. I found out that the FS is not always marked FS.

The way to tell for is look at the little plastic that holds the middle row of in place. The FS bearing will have a RED plastic cage. it’s marked FS or not. I got hold of the correct shaft for this bearing if you’d to mic the shafts while you have apart. Maximum Shaft 1.0000 Minimum Shaft

9995 The bearing requires a hardness of 58 HRC or equialent. AND last but not fer you hot-rodder guys. The Overrun Speed on this bearing is The RCB 162117 was about $12 at Motion The RCB 162117 FS was about $22 at Motion
