United States Mini Grand Prix Class Rules

USMGP Pocketbike Rules Class Structures

IF ITS NOT CONSIDERED AN OPEN CLASS AND YOU TOUCH YOUR ENGINE, you are risking being disqualified.

This is something I have let slide in the past but I am going to be monitoring this closely.

Any class is subject to a tear down. If you are protested and I see any non production marks you will be disqualified. Your engine cases will be comapared to a stock setfrom the factory and they must be within a tolerable spec.

If it appears it has been touched in any way you will lose points for that class and not be allowed to run in that class until the bike is made to meet class rules.

IF A DREMEL TOUCHED YOUR EXAUST PORT, YOU REMOVE BURRS OFF THE CYLINDER, YOU CASE MATCH OR EVEN CLEAN UP ISSUES THAT THE FACTORY SHOULD HAVE DONE RIGHT.YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED UNTIL THE BIEK CAN BE MADE TO ME CLASS SPECS.

THE FACTORY SPECS ARE THE FACTORY SPECS.IF THERE ARE BURRS OR AREAS THAT YOU THINK NEED CLEANING UP. DO NOT TOUCH THEM. THIS IS FAIR TO ALL OF THE RIDERS WHO ARE RUNNING LEGALLY AND OUT THERE TO RACE FAIRLY.IF ENGINE IS MODIFIED OUTSIDE CLASS RULES THEN YOUR BIEK WILLBUMPED UP TO THE CLASS IT WILL FIT IN AND.THAT WILL BE THE ONLY CLASS YOU CAN RUN IT IN

IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE KNOWN AS A CHEATER, THEN DO NOT CHEAT.

DON’T DENY IT AND SAY IT WASNT IMPROVING PERFORMANCE. IF CHEATING IS YOUR GOAL THEN THIS IS NOT THE SERIES YOU SHOULD BE RUNNING IN.

CHEATING IS NOT APPRECIATED NOR WILL IT BE TOLERATED IN ANY CLASS.

THE REASON WE RUN SO MANY CLASSES IS SO THE COMPETITION WILL BE EQUAL AND RIDERS DETERMINE WINS. IF WE NEED TO REVAMP THE SPORT AND CHANGE THE CLASSES TO OPEN 2.5, OPEN 40, AND OPEN 50 WE CAN DO THAT. IT WILL ELIMINATE CHEATING BUT YOU WILL NOT HAVE AS MUCH SEAT TIME.

TEAR DOWNS TAKE TIME AND ARE A WASTE OF TIME IF WE CAN ALL BE TRUTHFUL AND FAIR.

IF YOU NEED TO CHEAT TO WIN, MAYBE ITS TIME TO START IMPROVING YOUR RIDING. I HAVE RECEIVED SAMPLES OF ALL CASES MANUFACTURED AND WILL HAVE THEM ON HAND FOR COMPARISONS.

PLEASE KEEP IT FAIR AND THE EVENT WILL REMAIN FUN FOR ALL OF US.

I do know a lot of us have noticed and the speeds are increasing a lot in the classes 6.2 and above. This is going to make it even more important to have proper racing equipment. Including helmets

No more than three years old, spine protectors and leather or minimoto racing suits. Suits can be picked up fairly inexpensively and are soon to be even more strict in the rules due to

The speeds the bikes are reaching. Please also make sure the kids are safe. Chest protectors are mandatory for kids under 12.

Also, they must wear proper racing shoes. No more tennis shoes.

Please invest in a pair of proper racing boots for your child. Dirt bike equipment is okay as long as the full body is covered.

Also please make sure that the gloves are newer with no holes or severe wear.

Suits must be new or in near new condition.

Any suit showing significant damage will not be allowed to be used.

If your suit does not pass tech inspection you will be required to find one to be able to race.

This is not being left to question. Safety comes first!

Also, you can email me if you need something but please help keep the purveyors in our sport busy to help keep them able to support the riders, teams and events.

They go out of their way to make our sport fun and do their best to keep affordable for all of us. It is all very important and we will be watching this closely.

Unless otherwise noted, the following rules apply to all pocket bike classes:

All classes or bikes are susceptible to tear downs and inspections

* Bikes must be rigid frame with wheels no larger than 6.5"

* Engines must be gas/oil burning two strokes. No engine enhancers such as NOS are allowed and all bikes must be naturally aspirated.

* No modifications of any kind may be made to the engine, exhaust. intake or exhaust manifolds, or carburetor. No polishing, grinding or removing of any kind of metal is prohibited and will be checked with teardowns at our discretion. If it does not say it you cannot do it.

This is pertaining to all classes except open class. Please read the open class rules for clarification of the rules for that class.

* All components must be production based in all classes except for the open classes. No one off products. Please refer to class details for more information.

* Production- defined as "stock configuration" and readily available for sale to all consumers. 20 units must be initially available for a new product to be considered production. Classification determinations ultimately rest with USMGP officials.

Any bike in any class can be protested for 50.00 to tear down your bike to look at the bike to make sure it meets the class rules.

If proven the bike does not meet the classs requirements the 50.00 goes to the person who protested and you can lose all of

your points for that race and not be allowed to race in that class again

until bike is back to the required specs. If found to be not cheating then the $50.00 goes to you for your troubles.

The simple answer is to make sure your bike meets the specifications of your classes.
