2012 Zero DS Electric – Mixed Reviews

The new Zero DS is one of revamped production electric models in the 2012 lineup of Motorcycles. The Zero DS is an all-new for 2012—a dual-sport bike a high ground clearance for off riding,  incorporating the latest in motorcycle technology. The bike is on a rigid and lightweight twin spar and has a much greater riding than its predecessor.

The old four battery is now replaced with ZF6 (6 kW/h) or ZF9 (9 kW/h) battery.

According to the company, the version lithium-ion battery pack nine kilowatt-hours has a maximum range of 112 miles in ideal In a typical city and highway this falls to 62 miles range. The maximum driving for the model with the six battery is 75 miles.

I’ve read a of mixed reviews about DS. From the perspective of an average buyer and not a fan of electric bikes or its good features include design/appearance, good power, quick acceleration from a stop and on good performance as a dirt and bike.  It’s main are long charging time, and insufficient riding range.
