Perfect bike a few mods. READ HERE =)

By Jan. 22, 2010

I wanted to serious potential buyers a review of this bike.

we all know the bike is awesome. But let me out a few of it’s faults, all of which can be Basically, the bike is neutered the factory in 2 ways.

1)Problem: The is way too tall, causing. the rider to to slip the clutch to get the bike It’ll go approx 100mph at the top of 1st way, way too tall. This was presumably to keep newer from getting into

Solution: I went -1 tooth on the sprocket, rode it for a bit. helped with not need to the clutch, but still left the just outside of it’s surge(6k rpm and above). So I then +2 teeth on the rear sprocket. Now at 75-78mph, I’m rolling in 6th gear at freeway speeds in SoCal and can roll-on the throttle and get along very well!

Noticeable improvement over gearing. Total cost, $55 for two

2) Problem: The bike’s ignition is retarded in the first four When whacking the throttle the timing instantly pulls and then the engine’s CPU feeds back in over the next 1.5 or so. Makes the bike feel

I.e. less than performance from a near machine.

Solution: Installed a X-TRE. A timing retard Costs $130, and takes an hour to install taking dear sweet time =) the hesitation, or delayed, subdued when opening the throttle. have simply removed the throttle butterflies and achieved and greater improvement in throttle

But this mod can be somewhat irreversable many have struggled to the screws that are loctited the factory, and have had to drill out, risking getting shavings inside the engine.

A without the X-TRE, 3rd gear with the gear change difficult because when the clutch and opening the throttle, the ignition timing would back the very moment you the thrust to loft the front The X-TRE solved this

3) Problem: OEM Ohlins damper has orifice inside lessening the of full damping available.

Many ZX-10R riders(myself have sent their OEM off to www.kyleusa.com to be rebuilt with Ohlins internals that the expected damping =)

4)Problem: the It’s ugly, too quiet,

Solution: I purchased a Hotbodies MGP for $249. If used in concert the resonator that it attatches to(which many people or assume is the catalyzer), it produces a deep, beautiful tone is the envy of all my riding friends. To remove the catalyzer in the headpipes, you to replace or modify the headers.

I personally find that the above modifications, that the is just fine and has enough for my 145lb frame.

Suspension: harsh from the factory it is setup for an aggressive rider. I 2 turns off the rear shock and made some very adjustments to the rebound/compression damping on the shock and voila! Bike is for me.

Anyway, enjoy the bike if you get And be sure to go to www.zx-10r.net for support and from other ZX-10R =)
