Good Bad, but no Ugly

By Wignall(Owner), Jun. 16, 2009

owned a red 1400 since and am very pleased with its on all types of roads and speeds. In after doing 1300 in 3.5 days over a combination of back-country byways (paved), twisting canyons, wide-open/windy I was saddened to return home an. d to climb off the machine. It left me to head out again: no aches, or general discomfort at any point than what follows.

That’s the good.

The Bad: No control is troublesome, especially on long stretches of Interstate. take a beating, but that is the for all bikes. The really BAD: I was on a back road with pavement when I crossed a line and the pavement went to almost washboards, creating a up/down motion. I was at the 3.5-day only about 50 miles home. I write this I wish to deflect the charge I didn’t attach the left case properly.

Under the severe bouncing, the case fell off and was hit by an RV going the direction. The case exploded and a sale ensued. The largest of the case was palm-sized.

I never did the lock mechanism, etc.

Warning: If the case is attached you can grab it, pivot it by raising the of the case causing the connecting (that goes down the slot bracket) to come of the bracket. This then the front of the case to pivot causing the flanges located at the point of the case to clear the part. This also the front connecting piece to from it’s retaining

Once both of these pieces are clear, the bag can then outwards which releases the locking mechanism. all of which the bag to fall off. Try it while and you can see that the attaching mechanism is faulty!

Solutions? Here’s the UGLY: accused me of both lying and with regard to this and wouldn’t cover the bag failure the new bike warranty. So, the new bag costs and DOES NOT COME WITH A LOCK. Kawasaki assumes the lock can be located and installed in the new

NOPE! Thus, you have to another $135 to get the entire mechanism (handles, lock, and now also have a new, key for the one bag. It also takes a MONTH to obtain the bag, etc.

Upshot: I don’t trust the bag attachment design at all. is unresponsive. I guess that selling enough bikes in economy to ignore valid from consumers. Also, with the reinforing hardware, I am of the that the after-market trunk to such an extent that the points will fail at juncture.

I suggest constant inspectection of all of as well.
