Options, Pricing and Impressions of the Kawasaki KX 450 F

Kawasaki’s top of the line motocross motorcycle, the Kawasaki KX 450 F received a major overhaul for 2009, incorporating faster technology into a lighter, more responsive chassis. Upgrades to the Kawasaki KX 450 F include not only these go-fast goodies, but also EFI, or Electronic Fuel Injection, which eliminates the need for adjustment to carbs for varying climatic conditions.

While many motocross motorcycles have what is purported to be class-leading power, or technology, the Kawasaki KX 450 F is considered by many to be the best example of the breed. One look at the Kawasaki KX 450 F ‘s aggressive stance and lean posture, and you’ll understand why they say that. Kawasaki has taken their class-leading motocross motorcycle and maintained the capability while lightening, stiffening, and bumping the power, all of which adds up to a seriously powerful and seriously fun motocross bike

The Kawasaki KX 450 F is powered by Kawasaki’s 449cc liquid cooled engine, producing the power necessary to move this nimble motocrosser into the sky wherever you want while providing the kind of light weight that is necessary to beat the other motocrossers at their own game. The Kawasaki KX 450 F is as light as it needs to be. Skip the jelly doughnut and you will be, too.

A five-speed transmission and chain final drive keep the KX 450 F running smoothly, and 12.0:1 compression ratio keeps you moving at the monster RPM’s you need A digital ignition and 43mm Keihin throttle body keep everything low-maintainance, and a 26.7 degree rake with 4.6 trail keep the Kawasaki KX 450 F stable at any speed. Front suspension is handled by an inverted; Kayaba AOS fork with DLC coated sliders, 22- position compression, and 20-position damping adjustment on the rebound. Kawasaki’s UNI-TRACK linkage system and Kayaba shock cover suspension duties on the rear, fully adjustable shock, and provides 12.4 inches of travel, the same as the front.
