Kawasaki Ninja 650R launched @ INR 4.99 lakhs

The New 2012 version of Bigger Ninja is finally here.

Bajaj Auto, the second largest two wheeler manufacturer in India after Hero MotoCorp, Today launched the much awaited Kawasaki Ninja 650R 2012 edition super tourer bike in India at a price of Rs 4.99 lacs (Ex-showroom, New Delhi), which is actually a very very competitive price.

Powered by a four stroke, DOHC, 8 Valve, Parallel Twin (BS-III compatible) engine with a displacement of 649 cc that generates a maximum power of 72 PS at 8,500 rpm and peak torque of 66 Nm at 7,000 rpm, accelerating the Ninja 650 R from 0-60 kmph in just 3.1 seconds, while a 0-100 kmph is possible in 8.1 seconds. Top speed of Ninja 650R is 176 kmph.

This bike features a raft of new technology and design elements, including a totally new perimeter style frame, revised suspension, more angular bodywork, improved engine performance, more comfortable saddle, new instrumentation, lower seat height and much more. It also redesigned the exhaust system features with a new connector pipe, a higher volume 3 chamber muffler assembly for improved mid range while maintaining the peak top end power and a higher quality finish.

The big bike Kawasaki Ninja 650R is loaded with widest tyres and wheel base. The specifications of the tyres 120/70 – 17 (front) and 160/60 – 17 mm (rear). The Kawasaki Ninja 650R sports black alloy wheels that come in six spokes.

The brakes of front one is dual petal disc (300mm) and rear one is single petal disc (220mm). It is equipped with 41 mm telescopic fork (front suspension) and rear one suspension is single offset lay down shock.

The dashboard of the bike is designed in analog format. The three pod instrument panel comprises of  speedometer, trip meter, tachometer and fuel gauge. The instrument panel also features turn indicators, high beam, low fuel, low oil, and low battery indicators. The Kawasaki Ninja 650R is a sports bike and has all the sporty comfort.

The machine is equipped with advanced suspensions and petal disc brakes and seat arrangements are quite different.

Bajaj is the official distributor of Japan’s Kawasaki motorcycles in India. Under Kawasaki, Bajaj sells Ninja 250R and 650R in India. Speaking about the newly launched 650R superbike, Bajaj Auto will be able to compete with the likes of other 650cc (or more) motorcycles in the segment from manufacturers like Hyosung and Ducati.

2012 Version Ninja650R Launching on 9th August with a price tag of Rs. 5.80lakhs

For a long time, biking community was waiting for the launch of some serious stuff from the Japanese sports bike manufacturer Kawasaki, and the wait has not been in vain. The Japanese bike maker has revealed its intention to launch its Ninja 650R in collaboration with Bajaj Auto on 9th of August.

The new 2012 Ninja 650R that is arriving in the Indian market will be supported with revised front and upgraded tail section. The 2012 650R is powered by the same 649cc, 72 bhp parallel twin that has been modified for better performance in lower and middle range. The new model will also be getting an all new twin spar perimeter frame, that is ought to embrace this bike with more handling prowess.

As expected the upgraded model is slightly costly over the previous model and will be carrying a premium price tag of about Rs. 5.80 lakhs, which is an increase of about Rs. 80,000 over the previous model.

The 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650R has been a long time coming but was delayed due to the high demand in overseas markets. More over, due to the difficultly in attaching a saree guard, the launch was further delayed by a few weeks time. The Indian manufacturer’s Probiking dealerships are already accepting the bookings for the bike.

It may be noted that the booking process for the Ninja 650R, which Bajaj Auto had launched earlier, stood terminated for almost a year until Bajaj resumed it recently on 15th last month.

Kawasaki recently unveiled the 2013 Ninja 650R, which gets new colors and ABS (as an option). However this model is not being launched in India currently. Currently Bajaj Auto locally assembles the Ninja 650R through CKD kits imported from Thailand. The Japanese automaker has allocated more quantity of the Ninja 650R for the Indian market this time around and hence bookings are not expected to close anytime soon.

Bajaj Auto doesn’t plan to locally manufacture the Ninja 650R anytime soon as the company doesn’t find enough volumes to justify local production.

Kawasaki Ninja 650R Launched In India – WoW

Priced significantly less than other 1000cc sports bikes currently on sale in India, Kawasaki Ninja 650R offers Indian buyers sports bike performance at significantly lower price point and yet, provides enough power on tap to whiz past majority of cars on the Indian Highways, making it an attractive weekend bike at a not so bank breaking price point.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto said “We conceived Bajaj Probiking 6 years ago with the objective of making it the default destination for motorbike enthusiasts looking for looking for premium and performance bikes. The Ninja 650R is the next step in realizing that objective.” He added, “The Kawasaki Ninja 250R has been a success with 1500 of these speed machines sold to date. It is now joined by its larger sibling to rule the roads.”

In terms of looks, Ninja 650R’s sharp lines flow throughout the bike, giving it an aggressive appearance. Fairing of the Ninja 650R features integrated turn signals and a sharp tail cowl to highlight the motorcycle’s compact dimensions. Ninja 650R also features MotoGP-inspired multi-function instrumentation and controls.

Available exclusively at all BAJAJ Probiking showrooms in 30 cities, the Kawasaki Ninja 650R will be backed with Probiking service capabilities and spare parts availability.

Kawasaki Ninja 650R – New Sportsbike For India

The most awaited bike in India Kawasaki Ninja 650R comes with latest technology and sporty features with in attractive shapes. The bike is loaded with 649cc, four stroke, DOHC, Parallel twin engine which gives the maximum power of 63.7 bhp at 8700 rpm and maximum torque of 65.68 Nm at 7000 rpm.

The Bigger Ninja comes with front full fairing. The front fairing is designed in a clever way that covers upside of the engine section and shows half of the engine. The fairing is in plastic while fuel tank is in steel. The mask houses the dual lamp headlights with Day time Running Lamps (DRL) for safety.

In other words, the headlamps work automatically in dark and turn off in day light. Large wind screen is fitted at the top of the mask to protect the rider from gusty winds. Mounted rear view mirrors are having very different shape.

The whole front face seems like an crowned owl. Compact and sleek front turn indicators are mounted at the airscoops. The dashboard of the bike is designed in analogue format. The three-pod instrument panel is comprised of speedometer, tripmeter, tachometer and fuel gauge.

The instrument panel also features turn indicators, high beam, low fuel, low oil, high oil temperature, choked air filter, and low battery indicators. As far as graphical work is concerned, Kawasaki used a minimum. The Kawasaki logo is pasted at petrol tank and Iconic Ninja logo is there on airscoops.

The body colour of Kawasaki Ninja 650r is sprayed at front full fairing, mask, full front fender, petrol tank and pillion seat (in green body colour). Rear suspension can’t be sighted easily as it is fitted down under the rider’s seat. Under the rear seat, there are two helmet holders. Race ready dual seats look stunning. However, no grab rails and backrest for the passenger.

Safety depends on rear footpegs and the rider for passenger. The tail lamp is razor shaped and has a tiny brake light.

Toe-shifter gear adds to the sporty look of the bike. Petal disc brake oil box is naked and clearly visible on the rear side. The Kawasaki Ninja 650r 250 R comes loaded with six spoke black alloy wheels with shining racing strips at rim.
