a 2009 klr 650 new from a dealer. at miles, it was burning way too much even though i added/changed oil it developed increased engine my mechanic took a look — bad failed exhaust cam plain that took the cylinder camshaft and exhaust valve with it. the dealer is sympathetic, but on what i’ve heard, usa is likely to try and screw me. i’ll you posted.

Was riding my Kawasaki KLR 650 down the freeway at about 55 mph it cut out power for a moment, and then running again but sounded It then seized and locked up the tire and I went skidding the freeway. Luckily, it was raining so the slid easier and I was able to control and eventually with the in it would coast and I got off the side of the

It has 2847.1 miles and the exhaust cover has shattered and metal are jammed everywhere. From I have heard these are supposed to be reliable. this pathetic and dangerous. I’m glad I did not a passenger or we probably would been tumbling down the

I am waiting to hear if the dealer or will step up to the plate and fix but am doubtful.

I have an 09 KLR 650 and came on line to get electrical specs because I”m a cigarette lighter outlet ( for electronics) and find this! I heard of any recall. It’s now 13 2011. I personally haven’t had any spoke of hear. not even noises.

I have had small surging issue at cruising but found this is due to a standard on the carb at factory and can be adjusted Hope I stay luck had all 4 major jap bike thru my yrs and found my kawis and suzukis the most reliable. Iknew of the before hand just as kawi fans do.

There are many up grades address most common but this is a first 4 me. Crossing but 6000 in ( playful ones nada but a broke speedo my fault ( when you change tires make sure you up the speedo bracket on the hub if not it will down and the extra bend snap the inside cable. fully inspect wiring tho I put the plug in. also 99 lakota 4 hard rode and still with a touch of the starter

2009 KLR 650 17K miles. Has intermittent problem. Engine cuts off or with no reason. Some starts right up, some after a spell. Heat or in road don`t seem to be

Problem started after change, which Kawasaki did after much time and It had a bad weld at rear suspension that cracked around to top of tube. My mistake taking it to dealer where I bought it.

have known better. assembling it they put battery in and bent connectors to make it Any ideas on what the problem be would be greatly appreciated.

I’m riding a 08 klr 650 with 14000 km on the I decided to change the engine chain adjuster aka dohicky as it is a cheap fix, just as I did as the original item was already out of I actually owned a 89 klr and did near on it -mostly at speed on rough as outback dirt roads than reinforcing the dohicky I the oil(plain old mineral oil) 5,000 km serviced it myself. It was the most reliable bike I’d owned hence 13 bikes I,ve bought another this one gives me probs keep you posted. There are a lot of Klr s out there I’m just wondering % are having problems

I bought a KLR650 and commute 100km day to work. I also rode it Sydney to the red center of Australia and had a problem. in less then 8 I did 14,000km on it and nothing is wrong. or shine the thing will and go. Cranking noise form to second gear is quite for a kawasaki, I had the same experience the ER6n.

I think that bad experiences are due to really bad dealer or maintenance.

I have an 08 KLR650 I got 4 christmas from my wife 2 yrs ago and its a gift from her, I want to keep it, but the very day that I got the bike, I could’nt get it to called the dealer to come it up.the dealer later me the carb was bad and they had repleced a brand new bike), well the has been really cold ever since, when I try to start it, if it has sat 4 more than 2 it would kill the battery I could get it to run (had to get a battery to remedy this issue). I have a Harley that right nxt to it ,and it always with no problem.

I have had about 15 diffrent to in clude 3 other Kawasaki’s, and one has given me the most problems, I had a (01) that sat 4 more 14Mo. while I was deployed and I got back, all it needed was a new batt and it ran after that, WTF? 3 wks ago I barely got the KLR running, it did not want 2 @ first, then it did’nt to stay on, I ran it 4 about 20mins. 3 days later I went 2 it again (since it was runing so bad the time) and the batt was …, though I have it hook 2 the tender, I called the dealer and them what was going on bike has ext. warranty). the of the dealer was the one that had answer the and righta way he tells me that was my fault, before he even at the bike. (I knew the batt not be cover under warranty, but the with the carb?) any way I sent the 2 him and 2 days latter he calls me and me that it needs a new batt. (of and the carb cleaned, and that is my fault, so is not cover. I tried to to him that I have had problems this bike since I got it, and why I think he should look a further before making decission, but he basically told me, it or leave it. I had the bike fix @ a cost of and now after finding out about all of problems that so many had with this bike, and the has been recall too) my personal experience with my dealer, I’m not so sure if I’ll with the bike? one thing is the next time I’m in the market 4 a new I’m going some where

My 2008 KLR 650 with 18,000 just caught on fire parked outside my house at 2 in the I took it in last year for the harness recall, but obviously, wasn’t enough. $1K later, I’m with a bike I don’t anymore. I wish I would stuck with the DR650.

DR650SE sounding better reading these comments. ( I twice)

I want a bike to and enjoy, not have to work on

WOW! you all have me worried My wife picked me up a 2009 over in Jan 2010 while I was I have been home a few and only have 40 miles on it so She says there has not been in the mail for recalls. What do I to check to find out if my model has a

I also heard about a problem and the 08/09 E models are to be good. I need to check to see if I the E model. Seemed like a deal and so far I like the feel of the thanks

Bought KLR650 – Had electrical and starting first few weeks (in shop they rewired heated and fixed harness recall – no electrical issues since). to shop multiple times for minor faults and problems, very disillusioned with the Uses lot of oil. At 18000Ks blew the motor – claimed low on Kawasaki would not honor claimed no record of bike in shop for any problems.

Total at my expense – Aus$4500. Funny was while mine was being there was another KLR in the shop the same problem but only – again Kawasaki said too bad, not their problem.

getting very expensive to on road. (Need to hit a ‘Roo and insurance…) Anyway, next, cable snaped ($75), blew ($30), Fell of stand and cracked lower R/H ($188) R/H Mirror ($64) and R/H Indicator ($125), – Yes fell the way to the lean. Exhaust manifold (and one stud) fell gasket destroyed and replaced, two weeks nuts worked off replaced again (bought as spares this time).

kept overheating in slow (found the shop had not connected the fan last work done – not Engine runs rough and strange noises. As far as I’m concerned is the bigest heap of animal I have ever owned.

I can not this bike to anyone. afer sales customer relations does not exist.

so far on my ’08. Had an industrial accident year so I haven’t rode so far season…..would have more I found the muffler problem the recall and put it on the right way.

I about people having with the wiring harness so I it out and found two areas that wearing excessively. It was easy to the problem areas. Finaly one fell off.

Instead of 50 bucks a blinker ( I’m sure would all eventually fall off ) I it to Micheal cycles in Carson Tuesday morning. They me yesterday (Thursday) and said the is ready……They ordered the parts for all recalls and adressed them. some oil at freeway speeds. I it when I gas it. Around town I need to add any between oil changes.

bike. Handles better expected in the dirt given weight. For those who are not the hands on this bike might not be best choice.

Reading all of the bad with other riders me kinda nervous. I have a KLR, just turned 1,800 miles and knock on no problems yet. Just got today from a trip to Lake, in Oregon. I will to admit, averaged 47 to 51 miles per and the bike ran GREAT.

It did use a little oil but still between the on the site glass.

My ’09 650KLR died after only 800 Just got it back from the for the 600 mile service? Wiring recall? Taking it back for to check out.

So I got a recall for my 08 klr650 and took it to the dealer I bought the bike and they they had no idea of a recall… Six later still nothing. i was riding and the damn muffler off at 60mph. Any suggestions on what I do I love this bike but now im pissed at kawasaki.

Bought a new 08 KLR right they came out. Was impressed with bike, handling and styling. Took a while to admit to the sub-par signals, which I didn’t All (3) of mines had broken by then. the same ‘will not start’ at 3500 miles.

Took to Told me problem was caused be harness rubbing against Now check this out. It was the harness as the recall, but because it was at a different spot, then the indicated.

I’m out of $175 bucks. Kawasaki.

I have just a couple of letters informing me of the two I don’t understand why the shop I purchased the bike from inform me? Pretty slack I Cheers.

I have an 08 KLR650 I bought in the middle of 07. I have had it the dealer for both recalls and had taken care of. Each it has been in the Kawasaki dealer have broke something on it telling me. The first time was they dumped it over and the handle bars and said until I went to load it up and the side of the bars were 3-4 lower. The second time it in they dropped something on the cover and cracked it.

They said nothing I brought it up to them and found out a lot boy it dropped a wrench on it. Now comes the The same dealer did the last up / oil change roughly 2000 ago. The motor started to a bit of noise so I took it into a dealer and after a tear found that the oil pressure pin was missing. This was over a ago and I am now trying to get it fixed through the dealer.

The original dealer is that the oil pressure retaining pin not have done the damage on the top end it is showing. Anyone have any type of this problem. I am now that there is some of pressure related problems the early version of the 08′s. Dan

I bought 2009 KLR 650 a couple ago. I’ve put on 2200 and have not had any major problems. I did the 2 recalls taken care of.

I noticed the staples that the seat cover to the seat are away

[ rear of seat. ] I I ‘ll have to remove the seat to re –

The only other thing noticed is a loud clunk shifting between first and gear. It’s one of those problems. Sometimes smooth and a clunk.

I told the tech it at the 600 mile check and he said it needed more break in At 2200 miles it’s doing it. I’d take it back to the but they have gone out of

Has anyone else had this Thanks Jeff

I own an 08 KLR 650.

I am with the ‘feel’ of the bike, but the does have a serious oil problem, and mine now at 6000 siezed while riding.

I pulled the valve cover off and the Decompression unit is shattered, as it to pieces while running. damage to be found I’m afraid. has left a bitter feeling for for me.

My 2008 KLR 650 with 6000 just quit on me recently. I the main fuse because it had took it for a test drive and it again within 3 blocks. then it has been in the shop for the harness recall (almost 4

Also after the first 600 the muffler bolts fell out and I them then replaced again with the recall.

The way the harness recall works, is the bike is first inspected and if a kit is put in (one hour shop If that doesn’t work, the harness needs to be replaced (8 shop time).

If someone owns a 2008 KLR 650 and you not received a recall notice, take it in to a Kawasaki shop and will take care of the

I have just purchaseda KLR. Apart from going wrong, how do I know my is subject to a re-call ?

In reguards to the KLR650 recalls, I own a 2007 and have had the bike in the shop 7 since the first month I the bike for the engine shuting off and on riding the bike in the rain. happens to the other electrical of the bike just the engine. The shops think I am crazy they say they cant the problem.

They have run over the engine and throughout the bike stalling or shorting. I them it will not shortout your traveling around mph then it will buck a mule down to 15mph. exactly is the problem with the models cause it could be happening to mine. Anyone a clue?

Sure could use the

Well I bought a 2009 red KLR 650 Sydney City Motorcycles. No there.

Comment. I recieved the for 2 recalls one for the electrics and one for the exhaust the 9 march 09 on the 15 March at my home in

The Kawasaki dealer has stated they did not know fully and becoming aware of the issues.

The runs rough and develops an noise at idle that is through the engine and under and appears to be manifested from the noises.

It appears that the oil is inconsistent with presure or the is genuine design matter for the The dealer has said their model runs rough a matter for them.

If it is a matter of risk based on potential surley the dealer who know me be alerted.

Trade practices are imense pressure at this
