Kawasaki VN 1700 Voyager Custom ABS

Kawasaki EICMA exposes the new VN 1700 Voyager Custom ABS. Other innovations introduced by the Japanese are different. The most significant of which has already been mentioned a lot are: Z100SX, the W800 and the Ninja ZX-10R. The VN1700 is low and wide. The sculptural lines of the shape has to be familiar with that an endless array of accessories.

The conveyor motor, side covers, rear fender, the mufflers and the opening part of the bags are new.

The large fairing, if required, can be integrated fog lamps, while his line was inspired by the front of American cars. In it, a new instrument panel gives the driver the circular instruments all the necessary information. The console is embellished by chrome instrumentation, the amber backlight, the LCD display and audio service and the font used for characters of the instruments.

In side view the large bags (with a capacity of 35 liters each) are combined with the aesthetic harmony of the bike. The opening and minimal side to allow in the future, extreme customization of the component. The V-twin engine from 1,700 cm3 8-valve SOHC, liquid cooled, long-stroke is designed to provide high torque.

Bore and stroke are 102 x 104 mm.

The gearbox is 6 speed. The last, the sixth round, is in overdrive, or overdrive for brisk highway. In the sixth, although the gear ratios, acceleration of the motion is significant in the 80 kmh on the pace and during holiday travel is stress-free.

The final drive belt has a well-26mm. Quiet and efficient helps to reduce maintenance. Using carbon fiber instead of the elastic material such as Kevlar, now the transmission guarantees a resistance increased by 40% compared with a Kevlar belt of the same size.

Electronics acquires the role and importance of this custom. They are part of the budget of the VN1700 Voyager Custom K-ACT (Brake Technology coercive Kawasaki), ABS, electronic throttle control system, cruise control (operated since the third gear for ages 47 and up to 137 kmh) and multi-function instrumentation system complete with high-fidelity audio with iPod.

The instrumentation and audio functions can be controlled completely from the handlebar controls. The controls are designed to be operated with gloves. Special mention deserves the K-ACT ABS 2nd generation (Kawasaki coercive braking technology) that allows the driver controlled braking and homogeneous.

Designed to assist pilots in determining the braking force, the K-ACT ABS ensures ideal distribution of braking power for maximum efficiency during braking.

Operating the front brake lever and / or rear brake pedal by the driver causes the brake fluid acting directly on the caliper pistons, such as in the normal brake systems. The pressure sensors (one for the front brake master cylinder, the other for the rear) detect the intensity of braking applied by the pilot. Calculating the speed of the vehicle, the brake ECU determines the “amount” of braking necessary for maximum effectiveness.

The engine control unit increases the pressure on the front right caliper as needed.

The ABS system K-ACT also incorporates anti-lock brake function that prevents the wheels from locking during braking binding on the straights. The system is not activated when braking at speeds below 20 kph, while the ABS is disabled under 6 kph.
