Kawasaki VN1500 Mean Streak – Custom

What do you think about this video?

martianshoes: Drop dead lovely machine. п»ї

kawikeith: First of all Super nice machine. I just bought my buddies 04 MS. It is still winter here in the states. I like the dual headlight assembly and the license plate relocation. What companies do you reccommend that sell these products.

Thanks. Nice work.

CaptainLeftHook: @CountryPride09 I heated the adhesive behind the badges with a hair dryer, ripped the bagdes off cafefully, then went to work with my thumb and thumbnail. Finally used some WD-40 to get rid of the adhesive remains.

CaptainLeftHook: They are Honda VTX 1300 shocks (12,25 inches). They fit Mean Streak perfectly. All you have to do is replace the Honda shock bushings with the Kawasaki bushings.

FugginFab: Nice Fuggin Fabrication – Mayhem Exhaust. They sound great. Fuggin has 5 styles of pipes for the Mean Sreak.

CaptainLeftHook: Thanks!

Tommy Armour: Very Cool Bike, I just picked up 06 Vulcan 900, But looking at your bike makes me wonder what I could of saved for.

tirpromo: man loving ur bike. just reecently got an 04 meanistreak 1600 want the same accessories u have. whut where did u orfer the parts frm? i need both side foot peg adjustments, swing arm chrome. rear foot peg, as well. thanx

grizzly77able: Fuel pack

jon ho: i gotta question on the pc3. i have one of those too but im only using the maps provided from the powercommander website. im getting those 2n1 sideburners and a hypercharger. did you use a downloaded map or did you get a pro to dyno tune it? you said you had over 100 hp. thats bad freaking ass

AmericanBiker5150: Thanks, I’ll.check it out. I hope it doesn’t matter if the shocks are the same year as the bike. Sorry to ask you so many questions, I have another one, though.

I noticed you have your toolbag where the regulator is and I’ve heard of other people relocating it to under the radiator. Do you have yours there, and did the chin fairing fit right over it? Hey, you know Thunder MFG has a big bore kit for meanies, just in case you were interested, as well as a chain drive conversion kit.

knightingalesaid: Now thats sweeet man.

CaptainLeftHook: It’s a Low Mean chin fairing made of fiber glass. Just google Low Mean and you’ll find it.

CaptainLeftHook: Yes I did. Basicly almost every stock part that can be replaced has been replaced with aftermarket products. New pipes, tornado air kit, Power Commander III, handlebars, risers, headlight, seat, mirrors, fenders, forward controls and matching passengers foot pegs grips, VTX shocks, custom paintjob sapphire black and chrome parts all over the bike etc. etc.

I love it and the best part is you can’t buy bike exactly like this from local Kawasaki dealer.

Lone Tree Creations: Sweet ride. I’m buying one.

Kenneth Tin: Nice bike. Looks like you put a lot of work into it.

Keenan Boyd: Nice bike! I noticed the risers and bars. What brands are those?

CaptainLeftHook: No argument there, T-bird doesn’t look as low and mean as Mean Streak does. The main reason why I decided to buy T-bird Storm was the big bore 1700cc engine. Off course T-bird isn’t the most powerful cruiser out there but the torque is quite amazing.

I also like the blacked out look, large twin headlights, massive fuel tank. the bike handles great too, it’s surprisingly nimble.

John Evans: what is the name of the exhaust on the bike? got a 2005 and i want this type of exhaust!

CaptainLeftHook: Danny Grey Flame seat it is and personally I like it. Danny Grey is harder than the stock seat but you get used to it quickly. So far it’s the only after market seat I’ve had so I cant’ tell you anything about other brands.

However I’ve heard that the Corbin seat is also very comfortable.

CaptainLeftHook: Thanks! The front fender and the chin fairing are products by Low Mean. The intake kit is Thunder MFG tornado.

CaptainLeftHook: @AmericanBiker5150 Actually the Honda VTX shocks aren’t that different. They’re just a little bit shorter than Mean Streak OEM shocks. Mean Streak shocks are 13,5 inches and VTX shocks are 12,25 inches. Suspension is pretty much the same. I bought them because I wanted to lower the rear end and they look so much smoother than Mean Streak shocks.

I bought them on ebay. I’ve already forgotten the price I paid. Do not pay over $100. D

dfwdj2448: Are those Jardine forward controls with a floorboard added?

CaptainLeftHook: Cheers Jason.

CaptainLeftHook: @usmc35313531 It’s a Fuggin’ Fabrication 2-2 Mayhem exhaust system. According to my knowledge Fuggin’ Fabrication won’t be making motorcycle pipes anymore.

RA: Great bike, awesome pipes!

CaptainLeftHook: @Larrsify I didn’t like them very much. Sold them last year and bought Hard Krome 3 staggered pipes.

Larrsify: I have a 2002 meanstreak and I gotta tell ya, I like those pipes!

CaptainLeftHook: My bike had 80hp. I decided not to buy the big bore kit. I just had the straight pipes, intake and power commander III. The bike was dyno tuned by an experienced motorcycle mechanic.

CountryPride09: Hey man sexy bike. i got a black 1600 meanie. Just a quick question. How did u debadge your tank? Did it leave any mark or residue that would never come off? I guess i’m just afraid to try it.

Also whered u get that tank bib from? i like that smooth black and i think it would compliment well.

CaptainLeftHook: If I lived any closer you could buy mine. I’m selling this bike next week. My next project bike will be a V-rod Muscle or a Triumph Thunderbird. We’ll see.

CaptainLeftHook: You’re correct.

Spencerian: Nice Job. )

Nick Laffen: I have been looking for a rear fender like yours, what fender is it and where did you get it?

CaptainLeftHook: It’s a stock Mean Streak rear fender. I just did some customizing work on it.

CaptainLeftHook: @kboyd1212 The risers and top clamp are made by Aeromach.

CaptainLeftHook: @pickley1689 Thanks! Headlight was a simple plugplay. no problemo.

Joseph Parker: About 2 buy a 2005 meanstreak and I like 2 know where can I get those pipes

CaptainLeftHook: People, please do not post stupid comments. Yes, it is not a Harley and I won’t be buying one any time soon. Don’t need a Harley to prove my manhood.

Human stupidity never ceases to amaze me. Geez.

CaptainLeftHook: Power Commander III

gioslab: where can i buy the same seat. is sick. nice bike

jon ho: lol well then if thats the case. next time i visit europe ill catch one of those military cargo jets and see if my meanstreak can tag along. 9000 euros is like twice as much as id get here.

AmericanBiker5150: That’s a bad looking bike. Did you buy those spikes from a bike shop, so they already fit the fender strut covers, or did you have to find studs the same size as the bolts, then find spikes to fit the studs? I want to use them for bungees, and get rid of the stock bungee holders.

firestone003: great looking bike, very orignal, you did fine job

CaptainLeftHook: @Larrsify No heat shields so they were hot as hell. In order to remove the right side cover I have to remove the pipes first which was quite annoying. If I wanted to access the idle knob I had to wait until the pipes were cool again. You can’t adjust the idle when the pipes are hot, you’ll burn your hand.

If I had known those little negative details I wouldn’t have bought those Fuggin’ pipes. Now I’m more than happy with my Hard Krome Staggered Straights. Classic beefy looks with great sound.

Jason Barnes: Likin the updates TD

jon ho: btw your meanie looks AMAZING. best custom ive seen. how much did you get for it?

1000PJ: I love your customizations! What kind of mirror is that? Pro One Pro-Mini? I really need to get me a pair.

jon ho: i know you probably got tired of the ol meanie but it definately looks better than a thunderbird.
