A limited edition Track version by KTM will be manufactured soon out of its new 690 Duke. This will completely substratum on the machines, which competes in the 2012 KTM-promoted European Junior Cup (EJC).  After the successful performance on the RC8 R Track, the examples of 200 are to be fitted with the same specifications as of the EJC bikes that see multiple riders of more than 13 Nations blitzkrieg side-to-side in eight rounds for a support race for the WSC (world superbike championship).

This new Track edition is not for the usual road commutation purpose at a price of a little less than BSP 10,000. Specially engineered with many KTM PowerParts, modifications in few standard parts and some evident items, the 690 Duke Track stands for an excellent racing two-wheeler where it has already gained 9 hp and lost around 10kg above its 150kg street counterpart.

A complete titanium Akrapovic racing exhaust bespoke fuel map fitted PowerParts camshaft and modified airbox help in increasing the power over 70 hp to 79 hp. The comfortable designing comes from higher, firmer PowerParts seat with the complete titanium Akrapovic race exhaust system built in such a manner to provide more room to change position for the rider while moving at high speed. The Renthal narrow handlebars make the hands come closer into a position to race with a good grip.

With the 690 Duke PowerParts Track foot pegs it’s an easier increased ground clearance as well as convenience for the rider to move feet up and back at liberty. The thicker than usual front disc has a four-pad all new radial Brembo caliper with master cylinder to help slow the amazing speed. However, since the ABS is not required at all for track use, it has been not fitted.

The chassis subframe remains standard, being slim and light weighted. The shock absorbers raise the height by 15mm, with the front forks by WP item with complete adjustment while they have replaced the rear shock absorbers again with a WP suspension. The clutch system is APTC slipper while the oil drip tray is of international racing standard.

The design developed in affiliation with the European Junior Cup, KTM Research Development and KTM Street Ambassador, Jeremy McWilliams, the 690 Duke in EJC simulacrum is KTM EJC test which happened from 19th to 21 March Cartagena has proved to be an excellent track beast giving away huge riding kicks. There is an additional advantage as well, the fuel efficiency in a racing bike is unexpected but it gives 100 km in 7 liters of regular unleaded fuel in test scenario.

Yes this bike may not come on the stores with its current specifications but it will make rounds on the race tracks to motivate the company and its competitors to come up with new innovative models for road as well as racing.
