KTM is all set to showcase three brand new, small capacity sportsbikes at the EICMA motorcycle show 2013, scheduled to open in early November at Milan.

The three bikes that KTM will showcase are the RC 125, RC 200 and the RC 390. All three motorcycles are based on the Duke 125, 200 and 390 respectively. So, apart from an extensive sharing of parts including the engine and suspension, the KTM RC range of small capacity sportsbikes will be built in India. Bajaj Auto, a 48% stake holder in KTM, will build the RC range of sportsbikes at its Chakan factory near Pune.

Like the Dukes made in India, the RC range of KTMs will have high localization levels.

Of the three new motorcycles in KTM’s RC series, the RC 200 and the RC 390 will be sold in India. The RC 125 is an export-only model. Bajaj Auto will also export the RC 200 and RC 390 to markets around the world, just as it does with the Duke 125, 200 and 390. The engine displacements and outputs of the RC range of KTMS are similar to that of the Duke series.

While the RC 200 outputs 26 Bhp-19.2 Nm, the RC 390 outputs 43 Bhp-35 Nm. Both motorcycles feature six speed manual gearboxes. Also, upside down front forks and a monoshock rear are standard on all three RC motorcycles.

The changes have to do mainly with styling bits and the riding position.

Here’s a round up on what’s new on the KTM’s RC range of small-capacity sportsbikes:

Full fairing

Twin pod headlamps

New subframe for the tail section

Mirror mounted turn indicators

Clip-on handlebars

New twin seat design

The KTM RC 200 is likely to be priced close to the Honda CBR 250R’s non-ABS version while the RC 390 will be priced a few thousand rupees more than the CBR 250R’s ABS version. The KTM RC 390 is expected to come with ABS as standard. Expect to see the RC 200 and RC 390 in KTM showrooms across India early next year.
