2010 Kymco Maxxer 375 IRS 4×4 Review

2010 Kymco Maxxer 375 IRS Review
Story by Lucas Nov. 11, 2009
While ATV manufacturers have been it fairly safe recently as the attempts to right itself, we seen too many brand new four-wheelers of late. As avid ATV and industry followers, we’ve itching to try out something fresh. for us, Kymco has a solution to our problem – the 375 IRS 4×4.
We got our first look at the at Kymco’s 2010 product in scenic Asheville, NC. Kymco told us anything about its new before we first laid on it, so it was a surprise to us to see a hybrid sport/utility The folks at Kymco are very about the Maxxer, the company’s foray into this
Helping further set the Maxxer Kymco appointed its crossover quality Maxxis tires around Kymco’s own striking wheels. Alloy wheels are too common on a vehicle in this and we were excited to see them. We spend enough time on the to gauge how strong they are and how they might last, but certainly nice to look at. could have easily on a set of basic steel wheels and no-name tires and called it a
Spending a little extra in this area is likely to owners time and money the road.
In addition, the Maxxer standard with hand a very sporty looking bumper and rear grab All those extras do come at a as the Maxxer has an MSRP of $5,999. $700 more than the MXU 375, but it is still $400 than the Yamaha Wolverine.
For those who would like to distinguish the Maxxer, Kymco optional nerf bars, as as aluminum A-arm guards and plates.
While it may not share with the MXU 375 on the exterior, underneath the the Maxxer tells a different Power comes from the 366.9cc, air cooled, single-cylinder with shift-on-demand 2WD and 4WD, a claimed 26hp. Other include front and rear dual A-arm suspension seven inches of travel, hydraulic disc brakes up single disc brake in and dimensions (L/W/H) of 83 in./43.4 in.
When it comes to on-trail however, the Maxxer behaves a different machine entirely. response is probably what sets it apart from the MXU 375 you turn the key. The engine to life much quicker and significantly snappier.
Kymco says that’s it’s been tuned with a focus on getting up to in a hurry. If you put the Maxxer in a head-to-head race with Kymco’s MXU 500, the Maxxer will away early. It doesn’t the top end to hold off its big brother indefinitely, but you get power on the takeoff.
You could say the is a sprinter rather than a runner.

Nimble may be the wrong but the Maxxer seems to love around corners. That can be a problem with sporty outfitted with independent suspension. We never got the feeling the rear tires wanted to dig in, is an issue we’ve had with other IRS-equipped models.
Kymco says the suspension is and though we’re not entirely what that means, it did a little stiffer than the MXU 375 and suitable for aggressive riding.
IRS comes ground clearance and the has a claimed 10 inches of room the chassis. We’re not sure how of that 10 inches is left you climb aboard, but most and other small trail should slide safely the unit if you line it up just If not … well perhaps you should in those aluminum A-arm
While the Maxxer is a sport/utility in if you’re looking for a machine to a lot of rugged, gnarly terrain is probably not the ATV for you. The Maxxer can handle most trails, rocks, and even a little but you should probably leave the diamond trails to a more machine. Also, we found rutted out trails to be a challenge.
It seems the Maxxer’s wheels to find those deep and at times you have to work to keep all four wheels on firma.
So, who should consider the Maxxer? Our best guess is who just wants to have fun on the weekends with his friends. is not an ATV for the avid racer, mud bogger or crawler – it’s for the guy or girl who to open up the throttle on an old fireroad or trail.
It’s unintimidating, very to ride, surprisingly quick, and enough for a long day in the saddle.
