Moto Guzzi California 1100 Injection

Pros: Very Powerfull

Everything Else

I recently had the to drive the Moto Guzzi before the unforgiving winter set in on I must say I have mixed about this bike. I driven dozens of bikes, but about this bike me ask questions.

First its engine. now I own a an XS 750 Special, a KZ 1000, and my favorite a Transalp. So I know a thing or two power and dualsports. I have ridden the famous Honda Twin (which is not sold in country, sniff), the Aprilia the Honda Dominator, Yamaha Tenere (also not sold in country), the Triumph Tiger, and every other dualsports than 500cc.

And I love Its engine, in typical Moto fashion is a vibrating workhorse. yes. Friendly. NO.

When you start the engine, it like it’s going to itself off the frame. It sounds the valves are actually penetrating the Very noisy and very and very clunky. Now I know the has been using this since Moses roamed the and has great history behind it. But from an enthusiast wanting bike, I can’t find a why anyone else would.

The needs some major and to be brought to the space age. A balancing job, better mounts, possibly fuel and a better muffler. Now handling. its as with modern tradition of sporting that these are bad for 90% and 10% off road use.

As a street bike its not all that there are much better, but it is respectable. The front suspension is on the side and the rear is as hard as a leaving the bike very especially in turns. Offroad it is hard to maneuver due to its large and high center of gravity.

respectable but again there are The brakes are not all that bad. is nice. but there are better. not bad. not great. there are

The only two things this has going for itself; first, the exception of a few other bikes in class (none which are such as the Triumph Tiger, the Canyon, and the DR 650 (the largest of is 900cc), there are no other sold in this country in category. The only bikes come close to its class are everywhere else except for the such as The Honda Africa XLV750, the new Honda Transalp The Yamaha Super Tenere the Suzuki DR800 BIG, and other smaller versions of the The Africa Twin does around the Guzzi in the Dirt and handling with far better street handling, looks, design (in this department its underpowered but runs smooth as instrumentation (the best in the lights, brakes, wind and everything else a rider a true dualsport could

Now in this country we have had pretty bad luck with dualsports. And bikes like the Guzzi are part of the problem. brought the Transalp in 1989 and it mostly due to bad marketing and some from its European counterpart to the American public.

As a result it discontinued it in 1990, and its record-breaking sales in Europe many colors and a styling in 1995 in never saw the States Also the Africa Twin of the Transalp flop never saw the either. Yamaha followed by never sending the Tenere Suzuki never sent the BIG, and Kawasaki never over the KLE 500.

So we always end up the dualsports that are not that and if they are they are marketed by their manufactures, resulting in sales. What we do get is heavily to conform to manufactures vision of what the consumers want, bad color schemes (Europe’s schemes make the worst look great) and usually a high price tag.

So in my the Moto Guzzi currently is the dual sport market and its not a very good job of it, since it is not all that much. Be very that the rest of the manufactures are and will keep their stand on the import of the big duals ever reaching the country. So as a we still continue to get cruisers and

Bring any of the above bikes this country with the color schemes, and sales rocket through the roof, they look good, the good, they are easy to can take passengers with carry a lot of luggage, have fuel ranges, and girls them. So to me the Moto Guzzi is a disappointment for a bike in this

Its power is its only strong and that’s it, and I guess the fact it’s the only big Dual with the exception of the BMW’s are still sold here. The manufactures need to take a and send all their models of category over to set a new benchmark and to a whole other option for who are tired of spending days of chrome of cruisers and high bills caused by crotch-rockets.
