Moto Guzzi 1996 Sport

Hello all,

I would share my experience my first Moto Guzzi and in my opinion, the most … and fun I have owned.

Before the I had been a real Jappa the full fairing, cloned looking like every Jappa on the road. sure, are fast, great for doing from the lights but I never to own them for long, always for the next one.

So there I searching on the auction sites, after bike and nothing out as wow factor anymore. just bikes that looked something else I had already until about 5 days in I saw that made me say. WTF is cool looking thing? a beast.

1996 Moto 1100 Sport ( last of the models)

Color: Black, stainless pipes the rest original, 59,000km on the clock some minor crash to the left hand side.

The 1100 Sport is an awesome beast, with a Cafe style front fairing ( like a modern version of the Ducati racers ), the tank and body shape are modern and wide, which gives the Sport a real muscle kind of feel and appearance on the Also the price was very

Above all though, it looked nothing I had ever owned and it was Italian. There is something about Italian bikes for me.

Now the in my opinion has become the weekend rider’s bike these no offense but I just think are a dime a dozen and looking too so Ducati is a no go zone for me. ( Guzzi nicer as well )

So I fly down check the bike over, the cash over and away I go on a ride back home.

First impression, bike is and already had a crowd of onlookers I turned up at the airport to check it

Turn the key and the sound just you away, its a basic design the old 2 per cylinder, it works and creates a at low idle that just all within earshot. With the pulsing on its side stand all you to do is straddle that Italian and ride her for all shes worth.

Now it a bit of getting use to, as I am quite tall, the ons are well down, looks when your riding but 1000km, your neck and will feel it ( your does get use to it after a while )..

the Guzzi 1100 Sport a shaft drive and big V twin quite different to a Jappa. it easy until you can service forks, test out the adjustments, it a huge difference. Also the shock, I found setting it soft worked best and move the remote adjuster up a few depending on the road your on.

The 1100 Sport you need to your lines and set the bike up for the sooner than you would a

Around town the 1100 is awesome. You just feel on the most … bike and every one knows it. Even if a pulls up beside you, he your riding a real bike, not a boys bike.

Pop the while at the lights and the bike barks I BITE. , I have people jump when I done this. its awe inspiring.

You park it up and there is always around it, checking it out, the way the poke out the sides like a pair of double Deez draws all men to her.

The bikes is simple, only what you

Sure. the clutch makes a noise, it is a dry clutch after all ( I like it, sounds like a when under engine ) but reliability has never been an Honestly all I have done is put gas in it and the oil and check the tappets. Also the clutch has no oil, your oil stays cleaner for longer to the engine life.

The bike starts first pop with no and will idle at a lumpy 700 amazing, ( 1000 RPM when

A good mod to do, if not already done is the electronic fuel taps in for the manual ON/OFF/RESERVE types, the taps are cheap to buy. I fitted a sump extension and oil filter, makes filter easy and looks unique. mod you can do. I picked a second hand up for $160 USD. I also the indicators to more modern LED it makes the bike look but I found I had to use an electronic flasher $ 15 USD ) and piggy backed my old front into the newer LED ones, or the LED units just wouldn’t due to the low current they use. ( I hid the old ones under the air intake and taped them in place ) I know, but my auto electrical are about as good as my ball dancing. sad and stumbling )

Don’t be scared to buy a Guzzi, k’s on the clock is fine, and any would have been long before this. The are simple and have a huge span.

Sure its not as fast as a Jappa, but it lacks in eye watering speed it up for in style, torque and wow factor. its a bike and everyone just your a biker god, its

Totaly love the Guzzi, and the Sport I think is still the shape of all the Moto Guzzi. bike
