The is Moto Guzzi’s adventure and named after the Stelvio in the Italian Alps, a road BBC’s Top Gear once the best road in the world.

clearly aimed at the adventure and GS Moto Guzzi know Stelvio customers may be dreaming of across Africa but in reality use the Stelvio on tarmac and as a tourer. The has been setup to offer performance on the road, whilst off-road capabilities.

The Stelvio has been around for a few now and although it keeps the Marmite front lights, there been a few modifications from the version. The main change is the rather small petrol to a capacity of 32 litres. This is the external dimensions of the tank smaller than the previous Moto Guzzi claims a range of 440km from the

Whether you can travel this far at remains to be seen but it’s a practical improvement and recognises the touring potential.

It’s available in two models, the 1200 8V (available in white or is priced at £10,549 and the fully out Stelvio NTX at £11,749.

The 90 V-twin is the same that is found in the GT 8V but this one has a couple more at 105bhp. It’s been set up for a aggressive torque from revs and with the engine in true Guzzi style the frame, shakes to the right you blip the throttle at standstill.

As far as the fuel system goes, the engine premieres the new Marelli IWP 189 located on the intake ducts of the throttle bodies. A brand new ignition and injection ECU now guarantees running with power to the rear wheel via a shaft

The Stelvio has a radial brake with 320mm discs and brakes at both ends. ABS as standard but can be deactivated if you’d ride without it. USD Marzocchi soak up any bumps with of travel.

Swapping between the two and riding mountain roads it’s the 8V version that I wanted to on. It’s the keener of the two bikes and easier to throw around. it’s not carrying an extra of extras around with it but the wheels that make the difference.
