george dockray’s custom cafe

i was introduced to george when he sent me a few bucks to fix my laptop last week. he sent me some photos of his moto guzzi cafe i posted yesterday in friday’s of cool stuff .

i emailed and for more because it looked custom.

It became kind of a case of “what happens you heat the garage.” The project was piece by piece, built and over about 2 1/2 years. The was to have a cafe-come-70′s-endurance-racer with reasonable up-dates and conveniences.

Most of the metal fabrication I did

Paint, welding and fiberglass I left to others. My fabrication is from aircraft so that’s in the way it’s built. Much of most people would welded, I riveted together.

It makes a lighter structure. The system was built from and incorporates a Valentine 1 radar and “Blinder” police laser .

The engine is far from radical – ’79 cases, Megacycle X10 cam, dellorto carbs, V11 Sport 1977 LeMans 1 heads ported by Mike Rich ), cylinders bored to give a displacement, Nikasil by Millenium and by JE (CR 10.5:1). Home-built headers Burns Stainless Tube and ‘Y’ modified “Scorpion” megaphone from a GSXR1000.
