An Italian V-twin cruiser? How

When Commander in Chief said a new Moto Guzzi was our test fleet, the older began reminiscing like war about the first Guzzi rode back when (or was it Dewey?) was in the White House, the younger staffer scratched his and asked, Is Moto Guzzi in business? As it turns out, the marque is doing just thanks to a large capital from its new owner Aprilia.

The works out for both sides, as Moto Guzzi is finally to upgrade its facilities and pump out bikes it’s had on the drawing for a while, and Aprilia now has motorcycles in heretofore ignored by the scooter and manufacturer. Plus, Moto not only has an extensive racing and corporate history, it also has a customer base.

The Special Sport is a sport of Guzzi’s popular California a V-twin endowed with styling and Italian flair. The moniker isn’t the result of horsepower or any other traditional hop-up, just several modifications.

The frame and swingarm been redesigned to allow a rear tire-still only a bias-ply, but it’s an improvement-plus, are new springs in the rear shocks, and comfort has been boosted by padding in the seat. As with all this year, the Special boasts an air-cooled, 1064cc, engine mounted longitudinally for look at those monster sticking out of the sides effect.

The bike starts without any whatsoever.

Pulling out of our top-secret facility it’s apparent the Sport lives up to the Guzzi for producing tractor engines. Although most cruisers unglued or start to drag parts when the pace up, the Special Sport does Damping is quite firm front and rear, which to a feeling of rock-solid stability stuffing the Guzzi into Turn-in is quick and neutral, and not during testing did the bike get out of hand. It takes a concerted to drag hard parts. The fly in the bike’s sporting ointment is its linked-braking system.

Around town it very well, allowing you to the bike controllably at all times.

The problem is the single disk up is never enough, so you always end up the rear brake (and some of the front when you may not it), which takes used to if you’re accustomed to a brake system.

Of course, firm suspension will your kidneys like a of sucker punches around or on the freeway. The sporty damping mix well with potholes or expansion joints, and on the Guzzi have your rump up out of the seat as your body the impact. The suspension is nonadjustable which is a shame.

We tend to firm suspension over the type, but it would be nice to some adjustability.

In the final tally the Special is just that: special and to sport. If this bike is of what’s to come from the new Guzzi, we can’t wait to see the future holds.
