Moto Guzzi 1000 Daytona Injection

Bought new in 1994. Standard model with 280 mmm front As it arrived from the factory the shock was too hard for an 11 stone lb) rider, and the front forks too soft. I spent some on Maxton modified front and damper cartridges (from a CBR 600 modified I believe) and the rear was resprung and valved.

The difference was rear much more and front with enough to keep everything in control. I start to use the performance on bumpy A where it was now a pleasure to ride.

I have dropped the forks the clamps as far as possible without when the suspension is at maximum (about 1 above the top clamp) to get it to a little faster.

The power as standard was always a bit woolly and peaky for a V twin, so I had a custom stainless 2-into-1 exhaust to fit the standard downpipes, doing with the ugly and heavy box and twin silencers. This has helped pickup and breathing, from low revs, which less use of the gearbox. Also as a off, it is 10 kg (22 lbs) — yes 10 kg than the standard setup.

That’s got to be good on a heavyish old I contemplated a chip upgrade but felt it was necessary, and I think one for the type ECU will be very to find now.

I had to replace the clutch friction because the crankshaft oilseal onto it. Replaced both at 20k and no since.

I’ve now been it regularly over the last 16 it has proved very reliable. is now 30k, not excessive, but with bikes as well, it gets sunny days (not of those in NE Scotland). Had to replace 2 rectifiers and 2 batteries. Other that it has been serviced by and with moderate skill is an easy job, and I have the timing belts at about 22k as a precaution.

Still gives me immense riding something out of the ordinary.

got one of these still.

I also own a 1000 ’93, had it from

I guess you love or hate Aparantly they only 691 of the one I have. It is not the UK square headlight It has the narower light, I think the bike look better. I getting parts and Motto have not been too helpfull.

They gave me a non-working number to call them on.
