Moto Guzzi Le Mans MkII Cafe Racer 1979

I have taken one project on too many so am having to thin out a bit. I bought this hairy chested Le Mans back in July 2012 with the intent of going to town on it as a full custom standard cafe racer, however in the meantime I have been infected by the deadly Ducati virus so it needs to go. This machine is running ( I’ve just had a blast up the lay-by) and was last MOT’d up until July 2013, and it is currently on SORN.

It has a large tank with monza cap and Imola style seat unit with side panel all from the Tank Shop, their is a shallow dink in the rear of the tank which will be hidden when a proper seat is fitted as the current item is way too low to be practical. It has the benifit of a sump extension with external filter and has had the four pot Brembo brake conversion, Borrani wheels have stainless spokes and are in good nick.

Pressure of time now dictates that this machine is sold as a project, you are welcome to come and kick its tyres but please only do so if you are really serious, the sale will be on a £500 deposit via paypal with the balance in cash on collection. To conclude, its a proper 1979 MkII Lemon first registered in UK 14/12/1994, I have not used it on the road and it has been tucked up in my garage since buying it but you can come and ride it up and down the lay-by and run through the full box. These bikes can be fantastic usable classics that are totally reliable and oil tight that sound fantastic.

Reserve is set at a realistic level considering the kit on it. Good luck.

Update – Thursday Evening managed a couple of hours on the bike – Good News

Checked tappet clearances – left cyl. fine right cyl. slightly on loose side and adjusted, rocker gear all in good order with no sludge present. Checked down plug holes and can see shiny valve cut outs in piston crowns suggesting a recent rebuild/re-bore. Engine and gear box oil clean and at level.

Horn works. Lights OK indicators a bit too flashy.

As I look over the machine it is difficult to spot a fastener that has not been changed for stainless steel items, one or two on handle bar switchgear, I have already bought modern jap replacements for it that you can have. The fork stanchions are replacements or have be re-chromed well. Re-jetted as far too rich a set up found, will need refining during road use, carbs have been bead blasted and look the business.

Massive recent Odyssey 28amp battery fitted, would start a car.
