Moto Guzzi V7 Classic — mi Review

I purchased my V7Classic Rose Farm Classics on 8 of this year.  About 8th I through my first 2500 as the weather in Chicago begins to out the 2009 Riding Season.  I I could have cranked 1000 miles out of the bike year, but family and work my riding on the Labor Day weekend and all day week.

We can probably blame for a few more lost days. the way it is, balancing good riding with happily accepted responsibilities and work.

It’s than it looks. Motionless at

So far the V7 Classic hasn’t used one drop of oil.  Nada, I made a journey to Rose Classics two weeks ago to get an ECU update for the and we found a loose screw the fuel vapor cannister clamp in place.  it had stripped, but just put a bigger screw in it.

That loose screw all of the problems I have seen 2500 miles of hard  The log so far:

I remain convinced that the Guzzi V7 Classic is the very mid-sized standard bike money can buy.  It’s maintenance-free and it gets looks and that I’ve never had on any bike I’ve owned. even had attendants at toll give me a free ride they simply dug my bike and to compliment me on it (I’m NOT KIDDING!

bike seems to have no flaws for a “mid sized”  It handles like a scooter in the and out in the twisties of Wisconsin it settles on the bends at speed.  It’s than my Ducati when it to turns with too much on them — I don’t have quite as puckered up — That may be I’m not going as fast?  Frankly, I look at the speedo when I’m the afternoon away — there’s too to do.

My “meter” is the smile under my and the V7C puts it past “eleven” in the city.  I find that been able to plot a to work with some bends in the road, and if the traffic is they can be a lot of fun (Pulaski between and Fullerton is a fave).  Working I can take the freeways home, the V7C keeps up wonderfully.  the and stance of the bike make me visible and safe.

I’m the white bike in the city.

Going out to Rose Farm a few back I started to feel the for the first time.  The ECU that Moto Guzzi has is supposed to take care of an “engine light” problem occurs with some  The voltage threshold was set too low in a sensor (I don’t remember one), and the ECU update addresses

I’ll also tell you the update seems to have a fuel mapping as I noticed a different feeling of the bike, through the lower/mid ranges.  It had the linearity of my old 1200 Sport but absolutely no backfire when I the throttle.   I’m very wary of the “it better” statement when are done to a bike, car or anything.

Sometimes it’s hard to the “want” for something different the actuality of true difference. tried to remain indifferent to the ECU but I do believe that Guzzi a new mapping in, even though aren’t advertising it. The V7C’s starts are remarkably better, but you need to use the throttle/choke lever. know for sure, but “I’m sayin…”

I write this, in my Oak Park bungalow as a crisp, 44° day floats past my windows. rained here most of the  I need to get on my bike, but my daughter’s needs more paint, my needs some attention and my wants me to make dinner.  maybe I can squeeze in a few miles the neighborhood this afternoon…
