Moto Morini 350 by Motoveloce

from North Cornwall, UK is the established workshop of Mark called Motoveloce. Custom Morini’s have been few and far on Moto Rivista, so of course we excited when we saw this Italian Classic Moto 350 aka Caffe Corretto.

This Morini 350 is the first solo from Motoveloce and Mark has kind enough to share the with us.

Over to you Mark way back as a young kid I was messing with bikes with my As young teenagers we would old Honda C50’s and Puch from our parent’s and uncle’s and strip and customize them – days! As I grew up and worked my way all kinds of bikes I quickly towards anything Italian (My is Italian so there was of course a influence), Laverda in particular my favorite, although I could afford one until much in life.

I served a toolmaking apprenticeship school and then became with Jack Difazio his Hub-Centre steering systems was my baptism into serious building. Although my career took me away from and engineering for a long time I importing cars (Lancia and and bikes from Italy as a

This continued up until a few back when a chance with an old friend coincided a change in my personal circumstances in me moving to Cornwall and teaming up him building Triumph based Racers and Bobbers at Gilsons the

However, the lure of Italian and my desire to work exclusively it meant I had to make the decision to set up on my so last year Motoveloce was and the Morini you are featuring is my first build. I work on my own and bring in any skills as and when I need

I bought the Moto Morini 350 still at Gilsons the Bikers, it sat for 6 months while I just at it imagining how I wanted it to be. My brief was to faithful to the original design and to create a Café Racer looked like it was an ongoing almost from the day it was new, and improving as much of the original as possible.

Then one day out came the angle and I created the form I was trying to by shortening the top sub-frame, relocating the removing the centre stand and as of the fittings as possible to create a cleaner and lighter look.

The bike was in fact a Strada a Sport engine and twin upgrade, I machined the riser off the top triple-clamp and created a housing for the Mini digital readout replaced the standard clocks. The holes were utilized for the warning lights that I by drilling out button-head allen and inserting colored LED’s them. The old holes that used to mount the original will have Motogadget button fitted for the starter I can find one!) and to program the Mini.

Once the frame was cleaned and it was powder-coated Liquorice Brown with the original wheels, master cylinder, brake and calipers, battery box, guard, clip-on fixings and Upgraded electrics and a Motogadget keyless ignition were and the bike has been re-wired a custom loom.

The engine and was completely stripped down, the black finish removed and the polished, all internals have re-furbished and brand new bearings, and gaskets fitted. The side were cut and re-shaped, original mudguard shortened into a little stubby, replacement were fitted with built un-baffled megaphones.

The rear swing-arm bearings replaced with roller bearings. I sourced a square in keeping with the sharp of the bike and maintaining the 70’s and feel. The tank, side and front mudguard have custom painted in a metallic bronze effect.

The biggest was a personal one – creating a genuine Racer while remaining and respectful to the marque and not straying too far my original concept”.

This custom Moto 350 is the direct result of  Mark’s of experience, everything on the build smoothly. I really like Mark has done with bike especially the retro paint job and quirky dashboard.
