Oh my, Sheldon has done it again.

Aubut’s Moto Guzzi web site

Friday April 27,

Today I borrowed Son #1’s to go to Mora Minnesota to pick up my Guzzi Ambassador. I suppose I be a bit more specific. My son has my Corvette this week, and left his in my driveway. I didn’t really ask his but I took his truck, although he did I would do something like as spring is here and I am going buggy without a motorcycle.

Ok, I there is a Ural Sportsman in the but it is now sold and just waiting for the new to come pick it up, so I don’t take that out. sold my Ural Deco last year my fleet was as small as it has ever been. have two or three bikes and sometimes even have

But seldom have more one or two running at any one time.

The only I had left was my 1971 Moto Ambassador which I bought in started to restore, and have tons of money into, in a effort to get it back on the street. the last seven years I had so much on it that I was getting and losing interest.

After having the transmission, starter, new tires, KN filters, paint job, my famous re-wiring job, and it has been so since I started that that were once are now broken again. Last I dropped it off at Caswell Cycle in Minnesota and asked Les Caswell to a few things and get it running, within a He did great and actually had the thing and drove it.

I have owned it for years, buying it with the locked in gear, so I have ridden it myself. After the bike running Les informed me there were still major problems with the but I didn’t press him to elaborate, today.

This morning to be the best day of the year so far this here in Duluth . I was hoping to the bike up and also hoping Patti would ride with me to get it. Unfortunately she worked the shift last night and get home until 8:00 and was wiped out after a busy at the hospital. So off I went, alone, in my Chevy S10, that is a bit

It has a 406 stuffed under the hood, a BM Shifter, high stall and all kinds of speed type not my first choice for a vehicle to get a but the only truck available in my with the keys in it.

Got to Caswell’s and the was sitting outside. I’m I’ll be riding this Then Les and I got to talking and he explained there is a bit of a puddle of oil under the all the time, and that the exhaust resembles a mosquito fogger. I was to tell him that could be a thing in Duluth in the summer the mosquitoes are about the same as hawks, but thought better of it.

Instead I asked, Um, how bad? He me basically that the oil either out or went out the exhaust as fast as he put it in. Now considering that four ago I traded an MGB Roadster to a Harley in Wisconsin in exchange for his rebuilding my this was not a good thing. seemed to be more wrong the bike than I had hoped.

Les said, Oh, and the rear gear is this awful clunking Of course I asked, Um, how bad? He Sounds like it is going fast. (or something to that This was getting worse.

How do you guess it would cost to the engine again and replace the gear-set? He said, way too much.

I was disappointed. I wouldn’t be riding bike today, and after years of ownership, and about I still had an incomplete, non-running, un-rideable bike. Sat there my jaw on the floor, tears starting to in my eyes and the prospect of a motorcycleless facing me.

Now if you have been following my these many years you may heard me talk about my for a Moto Guzzi Jackal. Les has had one there for some time I have spent many perched upon doing the vroom thing. Soooooooooooooo.

One led to another and now Les owns the Ambassador and I own a 2000 Jackal with Guzzi Jackal hard and small police windshield. It is an bike and one on which I will be up many miles.

Oh, and while I was the deal with Les, I was trying to get hold of Patti, but she was with the phone turned I did finally get hold of here the deal was done, but she didn’t say I didn’t know what to when I got home with a new in the back of the truck, but she was entirely loved the bike, and even me try getting the truck out of the ditch.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention part. I have a ditch in of my house that I often use for a dock. If I pull a truck my lawn, then back the ditch, the tailgate lines up the street level and I can just the bikes on or off.

But of course it earlier this week, but the looked dry so I drove in. And the truck sunk up to the rims in mud. and I worked on getting it out but I finally had to go one of my neighbors with a four drive Dodge.

He pulled me then I backed the truck the ditch again so we could and he pulled me out of the mud again afterwards.

Patti and I will be doing a lot of this summer. The only I have right now are that my office was closed by the time I got so I will not have insurance Monday so I can’t ride it weekend. I’ve also riding sidecar rigs for the three years.

This that I now want to turn bike instead of lean, and I to relearn my two wheel riding
