Want a Bike with a Different Vintage Look? Try the 2009 Moto Guzzi California Vintage

The 2009 Moto Guzzi California Vintage is a vintage-styled motorcycle that’s been around the block more than a lot of bikes, while remaining a bike you really don’t see much on the road. In Los Angeles, police rolled for a while on the precursors to the 2009 Moto Guzzi California Vintage. It’s a bike that doesn’t scream at you, but still lets people know that it isn’t a bike like you’ve ever seen before.

With a chrome front fender and two-color seat, the 2009 Moto Guzzi California Vintage has plenty of style, and the hard saddlebags provide plenty of storage space for your excursions beyond city limits. Spoke wheels fit well in the vintage theme of the 2009 Moto Guzzi California Vintage. Additional niceties include a luggage rack and windshield, Brembo brakes and a shaft drive.

The 2009 Moto Guzzi California Vintage takes the vintage theme and throws in a healthy dose of modern convenience, as well as a good dose of power thanks to the 2009 Moto Guzzi California Vintage 1064cc Air-cooled V-twin engine. Transverse mounting gives the 2009 Moto Guzzi California Vintage engine a stylistically one-of-a-kind and thoroughly unmistakable look that will no doubt turn heads wherever you go.

The transverse-mounted heart of the 2009 Moto Guzzi California Vintage is a 1064cc V-twin powerhouse that features air cooling and 72 horsepower at 6400 RPM and 69 lb/ft of torque. The five-speed transmission with shaft final drive ensures not only the smooth delivery of the V-twin’s power, but also the sort of low-maintenance ridability that is so desirable these days in a cruiser. Front suspension is a Marzocchi hydraulic telescopic fork type with 5.5 inches of travel.

In the rear, a swingarm with two hydraulic shock absorbers and adjustable preload provide as much as 3.8 inches of suspension travel. Braking is of an integral type with proportioning and delay valves, dual floating 320mm front discs with four piston calipers up front and a single Brembo 282mm floating disc in back with dual piston caliper.

Weighing in at 580 pounds, the 2009 Moto Guzzi California Vintage is light and nimble, affording handling capabilities that make it obvious why the 2009 Moto Guzzi California Vintage and its precursors are so popular with police forces. Priced at $14,990, the 2009 Moto Guzzi California Vintage is roughly comparable in price to larger Asian motorcycles or used mid-range Harleys, while affording the rider a mount that again, isn’t seen every day.

A special release edition, of sorts, the 2009 Moto Guzzi California Vintage is available only in black with white stripes, but still is striking even if it can’t be had in flame red. While the 2009 Moto Guzzi California Vintage might not be the right bike for everyone, it does strike a welcome note in a world of Me-too cruisers.
