Moto Guzzi Pushrod Land Speed Record

It is a pleasure to be part of this Guzzi LSR project. I absolutely that the dedicated group of attached to this effort bring the 1000cc Production record to Moto Guzzi. got much to do in a very short but with the determination I’ve from the group and the potential of the platform, it will get done.

If indulge me for a moment, I’ll myself.

My name is Todd I’m originally from Texas and currently live in St. Lucie, Florida. I’ve involved in motorcycling for thirty-three since I was 4-years old. most kids were team sports, I grew up desert crossings out of Texas and in the mountains of New Mexico.

I also a lot of time around my dad’s dealership where I, and my two brothers, our flat-track and motocross racing I spent a couple years racing before joining the to eventually wind up in Jacksonville as a P-3 Engineer.

I decided I preferred the landscape of Florida to the brown of West Texas, so when my was up, I returned to Lubbock to get my B.S. and moved back to Florida my new wife, Judy. In the interim, I was to manage a MLB Spring Training and get my M.B.A. I’ve been the Motorcycle Safety Foundation at a few different sites for a little than five years

Shortly after my daughter, was born, I decided I should get a bit settled and open my own motorcycle The development process took a bit of but I finally was able to open the in July, 1998. The shop is Lightning Moto Sport.

My for motorcycling required that I be with a brand which I be passionate about and really I’m sure you’ve out which manufacturer I chose. of the motorcycling public in the U.S. has no of the rich and colorful history of Guzzi.

With the recent reorganization and grass-roots efforts this LSR attempt, this change. I’ve been with AHRMA and CCS roadracing for the two years and look forward to the proud racing heritage of Guzzi.

What is it that would someone to want to set a land record? I’m not sure I the answer to that yet, but October 21-23, 1999, a few of us folk are going to embark on a to find the answer. I have not around Moto Guzzi’s for long, but in that short of time, I have learned Guzzi folks are some of the people I have ever had the of knowing.

I joined the MGNOC and to the MGCL in the fall of 1996, after falling under the of, and buying, a red Moto Guzzi 1100.

I wasn’t exactly sure of why I had to this unusual machine, but inside me said that it was OK, and this was a good thing, and thing, to do. I started getting the in the mail, and laughed out loud the Goose Napping Caper, ’96) and I felt compelled to how much I enjoyed reading the

Then when Frank printed my letter singing the of my new bike, and how much I enjoyed the MGNOC news, I knew I had stumbled onto something Being just a regular I doubted my letter would get much less actually That was almost 3 years and the joy of forming new friendships, visiting new and even the simple pleasures to be in attending a Guzzi rally, all to some truly amazing and experiences.

When I first about the LSR project, I wasn’t sure why I wanted to help Guzzi set a Land Speed but I did want to help. But when Manager Walter Barlow me to the LSR team, I once again got feeling that this was a thing, and the right thing, to do. confident that we can set the record on a Guzzi, but I know that of the outcome, I’ll have had the to meet and work with great Guzzi people, and I have even more amazing and wonderful experiences to add to my

The LMV is only my second favorite (don’t put your mitts on my EV or call Vito from the room!). It’s got 56,000 and runs like a freight Although the expert wrenches are to do some legal tuning, I a suspicion that it could do the in box stock form and still do us all

It’s that torquey, and stable!

It did take me a while to how to ride it, thanks to a lot of advice LM riders on the list. I had expected it to and corner like the EV and some of my bikes and didn’t realize the riding techniques were different. Now that I’ve used to its traits, it fits a soft old glove.

In fact, sometimes I lose of where it ends and I begin. is done much like Italian exotic cars you think about turning and the car your mental commands.

So. I’m on the list of hopefuls as a rider but I’m an old geez of 56 so I may get to the bike up while the real gets on and off! I thought age and experience beat the stuffings out of exuberance and fearlessness but maybe not in case. Anyway, I want attempt to be successful and I’m not egocentric so I’ll happily in the background and watch the red streak the salt.

You asked how I came to own a nice piece of machinery. I had the money, my wife was out of town, the burned itself into my when I saw it and presto, her car now lives in the Easy!
