The Story of Squadra Guzzista

Squadra Guzzista, the online community of Moto Guzzi enthusiasts

Ciao Guzzisti! My name is Joe and I am the founder of Squadra Guzzista, the now well known online community of Guzzisti which I started in 2006.

I would like to tell you all a little about us so you can understand who we are and what we do, and maybe someday we can meet on the road!

The beginnig of Squadra Guzzista

This is me, many of you already know me from forums such as Anima Guzzista, Foro Moto Guzzi, V11 Le Mans, Wild Goose Chase ans some others.

I have been in love with Moto Guzzi motorcycles since the early 1990s. My first was a 350cc Nevada. I currently own a California Jackal from 2001.

In the UK you don’t see many Moto Guzzis on the road.

I ride mine every day as it is my only form of transport and I wanted a way to get in touch with other Moto Guzzi riders as this is the best way to get any help or assistance that may be needed as there are no Moto Guzzi dealers near to where I live.

In 2006 I needed to think of a way to do this and I came up with the idea of a wiki, this is a type of website whereby members can create their own content and add their own pages, pictures, video etc and I started building and by December of that year it was ready.

It isn’t easy to build a new Guzzi community as many are already members of clubs etc so I wondered how successful it would be. I started by trying to build links with other Guzzi clubs and websites and was astounded as to how friendly people such as Mic from Cose Guzzistiche have been.

People started arriving at my small website and membership started to grow. People started to write articles as I wanted to promote Moto Guzzi bikes. I have now published around 50 of these articles and have written about bikes ranging from the Superalce and Ambassador to new bikes such as the V7 Classic and Stelvio, you can read them here: and if you want to have your bike featured, just send me an e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. In 2007, as membership began to grow I felt it was important to organise some rides so we could get to know each other. I had never organised anything like this before but was encouraged as more than 50 riders said they were interested in our first ride, to Hastings in May 2007. As it was, the weather was terrible and many did not turn up but some hardy souls did and that year we had a further rtun in the autumn.

You can read about them here: Our main ride this year, to RAF Duxford was cancelled due to snow but we will be looking to do it by the end of the summer hopefully!

In 2007 I also launched our forum which you can find at and it was immediately successful. We have members from around the world and it is a fun, relaxed, place to meet other guzzisti!

Towards the end of 2007 I organised a photography competition as I had found that many guzzisti enjoy taking photos of their bike and many are fantastic photographers!

The competition was open to all guzzisti and I received more than 100 entries! The resulting 13 winners had their bike immortalised in the 2008 calendar and I was amazed to find that a copy had been taken to Mandello and presented by an american guzzista to Mr Toresan, as you can see in the picture.

I am humbled to think that our calendar has made its way to the home of Moto Guzzi and I am so grateful for everyone that took part and made the competition such a success. This year we are running the competition again to find the 13 bikes that will make the 2009 calendar. There is still time to enter! Find details here: and good luck, who knows?

A picture of your bike may find its way to Mandello this year too!

So what of this year?

Well, we now have almost 250 members of our wiki website and more than 180 members of our forum and almost 250000 pages have been read by the 70000 people that have visited our website so we continue to grow and that is thanks to our members, and to you!

Millions of people will be able to see Moto Guzzi every day!

The future

Squadra Guzzista will continue to promote Moto Guzzi and will hopefully continue to grow. I want to organise more rides and have the opportunity to get to know more and more guzzisti.

We are planning a campout for next year and would love for you to come to stay with us. I will keep you updated. Until then, take care, and Forza Guzzi!
