Moto Morini Kanguro in Dart

Most people tend to plump for one of the well-known Morini Sport or Strada models. Toda na nasprotnih koncih lestvice boste našli super-mehek Dart in rufty-tufty Kanguro. Torej, kako se je Ken Philp ima v lasti oba?

Sem prvič videl Kanguro na Earls Court v 1982, in je bil navdušen, saj je bil off-road V-twin. Sem imel zdravstvene težave v 1984, tako znebili nekaj koles in kupil tole, Prvi Kanguro ki je imel NLM v trgovini.

To kar naprej dogaja, ko sem ga hotel! To mi je dal veliko užitka off-road, kljub svoji teži, in sem shortie – 5"5. Znebil sem le tega v 2003 ker imam samo 15% kapaciteta pljuč zdaj.

Ne morem reči, da je vse, kar mi ni všeč o tem. Včasih sem za enduros, Pot-jahanje, Weston Beach Race, poskusi na dolge razdalje, in tako naprej, in enkrat zajeti 720 milj v 20 ur na dogodku MCC.

V celoti sem zajela približno 16,000 milje. Ni bilo nobenih resnih težav, samo tisti, ki so bili moja krivda!

Vsakdo nakup Kanguro je treba izogibati prvih X-modelov. X1 in X2 imajo cevni okvirji, in X razpoke okvir v pravem podnožniku točke. X1 je okrepitev tam.

Žaromet je le direktna svetloba AC, tako izhod se spreminja glede na hitrost motorja. To je tudi sistem razsvetljave 6-voltni, z zelo majhno baterijo!

tako, ki je v lasti Kanguro z novo, Res sem bil zelo impresioniran z motorjem. Potem sem videl fotografijo novega Dart v tisku, and wasn’t too impresseduntil I saw one close-up at the Earls Court Show in 1998. I positively DROOLED!

So I watched NLM unpack the first one they had from Harglo, and bought it straight away.

It’s a June 1990-registered Moto Morini Dart, so is now almost 16 let. It’s got 54,000km on it and is still in very good condition. It’s had a few mods, all done by melike the right foot gearchange / left foot brake, a Honda NTV650 hydraulic adjuster on the rear Marzocchi monoshock, alloy tank, and handlebar raisers.

I also fitted it with a KN air filter, with suitable jet changes, and a Y-piece in the exhaust in place of the unobtainable expansion chamber, and a Micron exhaust can off a Ducati 750SS. The latter was done partly to reduce weight, partly to make it sound a proper V-twin! It’s also had extra spacers slotted in above the internal fork springs.

Without doubt, its best features are its looks, and performance. The Dart is not particularly fast (I’ve seen a max of 101.1mph on my digital cycle speedowhich is very accurate, mimogrede), but the handling is SUPERB! It’s also economical and has given 64mpg over its life (I have a record of all the fuel used from new).

It’s comfortable for a shortie, and it’s taken us on a couple of Continental tours two-up.
