Cons: Highly priced used, No gear indicator, slightly top heavy.

The Bottom Line: Agile, economical and comfortable. Excellent value. Fun to Ride

Last year Cycle World rated this bike as the worlds best all round motorcycle. Mine was built in Oct 2005 and I purchased it in March 2006 for a reasonable Cdn$7200 plus 13%taxes, 7% provincial and 6% Federal.

The silver paint actually looks more powder blue and grows on one. Mine is completely stock. I do add a tank bag and a sheep skin seat cover for some trips. The 6 spd gear box works well once warm.

A DOHC 650 twin has lots of torque so can putter along getting great economy of well over 60 mpg or really fly cruising at 80 -90 mph and getting only 50 mpg.

Comfort is great, the rider sits up high with a commanding view. The quick acceleration and response to throttle inputs leaves Harley riders for dead. You can see over cars and around SUVs to leave them well behind.

I have ridden 600 plus miles in a day. My artificial hip and body says stop every hr. or so to stretch, refuel eat or whatever. The fuel tank can go an easy 300 miles. No gear indicator means sometimes looking for anther gear thats not there. Brakes work well.

Many riders complain about the windscreen and wind buffeting, certainly there is some but remember this is not a Harley or Goldwing cruiser. Keep to the speed limits and wind is not a problem.

9000 kms from April til Oct 2006, and I still enjoy this agile bike. freeways or forestry roads it works well. It is tall and top heavy with a full tank, many have dropped theirs. I did mine, turning in a park on a sloped roadway, one new signal lamp for $58.00.

The twin cylinder engine revs slowly, so speed is deceptive. The sound is an easy smooth variety and the smoothness of the small by todays standard, engine can get you along quickly in traffic or the open road.

The chain is easy to adjust and lubricate, oil and filter changes very easy. Buy the filter wrench from Suzuki. Gauges are clear and easy to read without my reading glasses. 2 trip odometers are great ,one for fuel and one for the days distance. Fuel gauge is accurate and lets you know by flashing when the tank is nearing empty.

No excuses for running out of the regular fuel.

Suzuki dealer is most helpful, Modern Motorcycle in Vancouver BC. Plenty of things to add on such as heated grips, bags, hand shields, center stand, GPS, etc. It all adds weight and I can do without them.

A cargo net and soft luggage wrapped in a clear plastic garbage bag on the rack is all I need for a road trip.

See some of my video clips on YouTube. my name is c2100

ABS is available for 2007.
