Suzuki B-King Final Prototype


Buell has introduced the 1125R, An All-New Model Features a liquid-cooled engine to Buell specifications and manufactured in by BRP-Rotax. The new motor, exclusive to and sharing few parts with Rotax-designed engines, is a 72-degree pumping out a claimed 146 horsepower at rpm and 82 ft.-lbs. of torque at 8000 The 1125R’s chassis shows influences from the Firebolt but is also new.

Claimed dry is 375 pounds, 20 pounds less the XB12R Firebolt.

The Helicon measure 103.0mm x 67.5mm, less oversquare than 1098, for an actual displacement of Double overhead cams four valves per cylinder set at a 18-degree included angle, finger followers allowing shim changes for adjustment. Cam is by chain to each intake with gear drive the exhaust cam to the intake.

Two shafts cancel primary created by the smaller-than-90-degree V angle, a third cancels rocking-couple this allows the engine to be as a stressed member and solidly in the frame, with the swingarm in the crankcase. Intake is via dual throttle bodies, and the exhaust is through an underengine muffler. A transmission incorporates a vacuum-assist clutch and, as with Buell models, final is by belt-but on the left side than the right.

A dry-sump oiling system is with its reservoir integrated the crankcase rather than in the swingarm. Like the XB models, the 1125R carries its fuel gallons) in the aluminum frame. is aggressive, with the 47mm set at 21 degrees of rake and just of trail. The twin radiators are longitudinally (think RC51 or Hawk) rather than shortening wheelbase to 54.5 and allowing a 54-percent front-end bias.

An update to Buell’s Torsional Load front includes an eight-piston, four-pad used in place of the previous unit.

The 1125R’s MSRP is set at $11,995, and will be available later year. An official press is scheduled for Laguna Seca; is slated to attend, and-hoping he ball one up like he destroyed a last year-he will a report for our next issue. The XB of Firebolts and Lightnings continues for with updates to the Thunderstorm used on the 984cc and 1203cc including a larger crankpin, Engine Control Module and a new oil and oil cooler.

First as a concept bike at the Tokyo Show several years the Suzuki B-King received so attention that it is now in production and unchanged from the prototype, from the omission of the supercharger. We had of the ’08 Hayabusa in our last and the B-King utilizes that 1340cc engine-reportedly in full tune-housed in a cast-aluminum frame.

Running gear appears with fully adjustable and radial-mount brakes designed for the B-King. Claimed dry weight is 520 vs. 485 pounds for the Hayabusa.
