2008 Suzuki GSX-R 750

August 10th, 2008 admin

It is a revolutionary motorcycle that changed production- based racing forever. Filling racing paddocks around the globe, and driving would-be competitors from the grid. A machine so dominant that other brands abandoned the 750cc racing class because they could not compete.

The GSX-R slogan, Own The Racetrack, is based solidly in fact. Say GSX-R75O, and the world thinks of a racebike with lights, with the best possible balance of engine and chassis performance.

For 2006, the latest version of the legendary GSX-R7SO continues to relentlessly advance high-performance technology. Combining the responsive torque and broad, smooth powerband of a heavyweight with the compact size and easier handling of a middleweight. Now more compact. More powerful.

More aerodynamic.

Yes, the GSX-R 750 is not much than a 600cc GSX-R with 150cc added. Same chassis, suspensions, engine mappings and design features. the same bike but with more power…

For the engine, Suzuki added to this GSX-R 750, the same evolutions that we could saw on the other sporty models of the brand. The Suzuki Drive Mode Selector [S-DMS, small recall. The rider can chose at any moment between three modes, A, B or C].

« A » for max Power and torque,

« B » for power and torque more soft, and

« C » for even less power and Torque.

It has new combustion chambers, new titanium valves, and a compression ratio of 12.8 to 1.

As on the 600, the GSX-R 750 has more closer gear ratio, and a crankshaft heavier to provide a better response. It also features a slipper clutch.

The chassis now, is exactly the same, at last for the conception, a steering column extruded, aluminium composite twin-spar and two swingarm stand.

Suspensions are made of a Showa front fork fully adjustable and linked with a electronic steering damper.

At the rear a monoshock also fully adjustable and features a two speed compression setting (fast or slow).

The 2008 model is also mounted with lighter aluminium alloy wheels and floatting discs with radial mounted four pot calipers.

Suzuki has launched the 2008 Suzuki GSX-R750 as one of three new 2008 motorcycles at an event on the eve of the 2007 Paris Motorcycle Show.

The new 2008 Suzuki GSX-R750 features the same trio of halogen horizontally-mounted lights as the 2008 Suzuki GSX-R600, with the same vertically-stacked ‘position lamp’ to keep the traditional GSX-R look.

The 2008 Suzuki GSX-R750 has a new 750cc engine, with a big bore, short stroke; and a 15,000rpm redline. It benefits from ram-air induction via two fairing inlets, with a six-speed, close-ratio gearbox, and a back-torque-limiting clutch. The 2008 Suzuki GSX-R750 also has three-way, on-the-fly engine mapping, as with the Suzuki GSX-R1000 and 2008 Suzuki GSX-R600.

There is a 125 gram lighter rear subframe, with an adjustable Showa rear shock, and inverted Showa forks at the front. The footpegs are also adjustable, and the 2008 Suzuki GSX-R750 comes with a steering damper reactive to speed. Lighter wheels save 430 grams despite keeping the dimensions of the previous model, there are 320mm front discs with radial-mount opposed-four-piston Tokico calipers, and a 220mm rear disc in a single-piston Tokico.

Lastly the fuel tank is expanded to 17 litres.

The other 2008 Suzuki motorcycles launched at the same event were the 2008 Suzuki GSX-R600, and the 2008 Suzuki DR125SM.
