2012 Tokyo Motorcycle customs

A custom alley has pride of place in the main at Tokyo Big Sight, serving up sizzle that the mainstream haven’t brought to the table

emporiums have stolen the limelight at the 2012 Tokyo show, with the mainstream – all still in a state of fiscal after the ravages of the GFC – not really in the at all.

So while the likes of Honda and BMW have simply their bikes with accessories – after all, where big money is to be made it’s been left to custom outfits like Nen, K-II Project and DB – most Tokyo based, and with tentacles throughout the — to transform base like the Hayabusa, which is serioulsy potent in stock and a slew of Kawasakis stretching the Z1 to the ZX-14.

And there appears to be a common with all of them – Brembo and Ohlins suspension the twin with the souped-up powerplants the of the respective in-house gurus.

A Z1 900, the product of Sanctuary, is my of the bunch in custom alley – it looks stunning from aft to

Some of the creations have made it to the race track in forms – but not all with success it seem. Either that or prevents too much chest

Outside of the custom alley an interesting concept bike is the ZecOO, or “low Ride Motorcycle Emotional’. It’s worn a well trodden through a number of exhibitions in over the last few months, the green element not doing its prospects any harm.

Speaking of green, Suzuki is the major manufacturer which is any sort of electric theme the e-Let’s, which was launched a few months ago – but not in Australia yet. The is a tiny little thing – the storage basket on the front is a – that can travel at least from a single charge had has braking

The e-Let’s is sharing the Suzuki with its petrol-driven scooter including the long-nosed Gemma looks a lot like the Yamaha and Shy Wave (400 and 650cc) as well as the GSX-R range, DL 650 Gladius 650 and GW250/Inzamuma – the first used in the Chinese market. than that, there’s not a helping on the Suzuki stand, let world premieres or Japanese

The e-Let’s has its place, but we were that Honda’s all-electric race bike wasn’t after an appearance at the 2011 Motor Show.
