We did not know really what to expect on the model of Suzuki Cross 2013: Here are a pleasant surprise from the Japanese manufacturer! There are nine of the new vintage of the RM-Z 250 and RM-Z 450.

It’s been a while that Suzuki did not present a real novelty Cross. The RM-Z 450 had hardly changed since 2009 and RM-Z 250 remained on his – excellent – acquired since 2010. So we do not change things radically, either in Yellow, and aside from a black rear fender, the aesthetic remains almost identical to previous vintages.

But still, there have several major developments on the range Suzuki Cross 2013: here in detail.

Suzuki RM-Z 250 2013: The big move

The engine of the Suzuki RM-Z 250 2013 followed specifications to optimize acceleration by providing a faster response of gases, and increase power and torque in the midrange. The RM-Z 250 receives a brand new 5-speed transmission, equipped with a new cam selection for greater accuracy and smoothness when changing gear and a clutch control system review. The radiators of Suz ‘are promoting new cooling fins and new hoses in more stable performance but also easier to maintain. Finally for reliability, a new magnetic oil strainer was introduced.

The frame and the rear part of the RMZ 250 is refined, the emphasis was also placed on the balance, new motor mounting lugs and the rigidity of the assembly having been reviewed. With the modification of the rear frame, a new air box is in place, combined with a new intake duct, the side of the suspensions, we note the arrival of a brand new fork: the Showa separate function found on current Kawasaki KX250F.

To adapt to changes in the chassis, the suspension is also revised, new settings and new link to the key. Finally it is now the Dunlop MX 51 Geomax that will equip the RM-Z 2013.

Suzuki RM-Z 450 2013: Plan two and a half

The Suzuki RM-Z 450 2013 follows the same specifications as the 250, but the changes are somewhat different. The piston, connecting rod and its axis are redrawn. The new shape of the piston allows a weight saving of 13% without affecting its stiffness. The connecting rod is also lighter. The piston pin is being treated DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) similar to the suspension of the GSX-R 1300 Hayabusa.

The axis is now shorter and lighter.

Same “punishment” for the 250: you have to do with the new noise standards more stringent. The collector of the 450 is longer than 50 mm and the design of the silent exchange with “diverters” gas internally. The timing and the timing of the intake camshaft of the RM-Z 450 is redesigned so that the bike delivers a more linear power. If the distribution chain remains the same, a new guide is born.

The transmission is redesigned with some modifications gear box and a new cam selection, more accurate and gentle to use.

The chassis and electrical components undergo the same changes as those of the RM-Z 250. Meanwhile, RMZ 250 and 450 have their maintenance easier with the introduction of an Auto Diagnostics. It is indeed possible to monitor the engine during the season (time control, for example) with the optional Suzuki tool.

Custom settings of the injection will clearly possible with this tool. The two engine plugs changing the behavior of RM-Z according to your desires and race conditions are still valid, but handling is now faster and easier.
