About the Holden HK

The Holden HK is a range of automobiles which was by General Motors Holden’s in between 1968 and 1969. in January 1968, the HK range the Holden HR series which had in production since 1966. HK were both larger and than their predecessors and the would ultimately include different models against the of the HR range. The HK series was initially in three trim levels, available in four door and five door station body styles: * Belmont * Belmont station wagon * sedan * Kingswood station * Premier sedan * Premier wagon

The Belmont and Kingswood names new for the HK series, replacing the Standard and names which had been by Holden since 1953. The nameplate was retained for the top of the line which now featured four and a unique roofline to differentiate it from its lesser siblings.

The also featured an overall 200 millimetres (8 in) greater than the HK sedans, although this length was added to the body while the wheelbase remained at 111 inches, and it was equipped with the 307 inch V8 engine as standard. The HT series launched in May 1969. after, the introduction of a new locally Holden 253-cubic-inch (4.1 L) V8 was then followed by a larger 308-cubic-inch (5.0 L) version. The (5.0 L) Chevrolet V8 engine had an option for all HT series cars up the local 308 engine was introduced on the HT sedan.

The range of three engines carried over to the HT however the transmission options for the V8 were many and varied. the 253 V8 only came with three-speed column- or four-speed manual transmissions. The 307 V8 was only with two-speed Powerglide

This arrangement continued the 307 stocks were exhausted, which the 253 and 308 locally built V8 could then be ordered any manual or automatic transmission the range, excepting the Holden which was always specified as a 308 A new locally manufactured three-speed transmission, the Tri-Matic, was introduced in the life of the HT range, except on HT which retained the two-speed Powerglide transmission.
