Suzuki released its first GSX R600 in 1996. From then until 2000, it came standard with a 16-valve, inline-four, six-gear engine. It has an aluminum twin spar frame with a seat height of 830 mm. Suspension on the front and rear was preload, rebound and compression. The fuel tank held 18 liters, or about four and a half gallons.

Twin 320 mm disc brakes were on the front wheel and a single 220 mm disc was on the rear. The bike weighed 174 kg. The average fuel consumption on this early model GSX R600 was 36 mpg with a tank lasting an average of 140 miles.

In 2004 and 2005 Suzuki released its GSX R600 with a 16-valve, inline-four, six-gear, fuel-injected engine. Its frame was aluminum twin spar and it came standard with a fully adjustable front and rear suspension. Its top speed was rated at 164 mph with an average fuel consumption of 38 mpg.

The fuel tank held a little over four gallons, or 17 liters. The front brakes were twin 300 mm discs with four piston radial calipers. The rear brake was a single 220 mm disc with a twin piston caliper.

The front tire measured 120/70-by-17 and the rear tire measured 180/55-by-17.

2006 to 2007

The GSX R600 was released in 2006 and 2007 with a 599 cc, 16-valve inline engine with six gears. It featured a front and rear suspension that was preloaded, rebound and compressed. It weighed in at 161 kilograms and had a maximum fuel capacity of just over 4 gallons (16.5 liters). The front brakes were twin 310 disc brakes with a single 240 mm disc brake in the back. The front tire measured 120/70-by-17 and the back tire was 180/55-by-17.

It had an aluminum twin spar frame and a seat height of 810 mm.
