This whacky little is more fun than a cameraman gig at Gone Wild. I’ve too busy riding the snot out of the Bike That Could to do in the way of tweaking. With its supermoto-spec Coast Wheels, Dunlop 208 tires, EBC 320mm front brake and Factory Connection it is simply hilarious in the canyons.

I thrashed it on Las Flores, Stunt, Piuma, Latigo and Yerba Roads, I had doubts about a 398cc single could my overstuffed … as well on the as it had in the dirt.

Not to worry: A good always makes a great Especially when it weighs 300 pounds, has wide, soft, tires, great brakes and the travel, quality and adjustability to ’em all work together.

The Malibu canyons are tight, and bumpy-in other words, for the DR-Z. When I tested the KTM 950 I thought I’d ridden the canyon bike. And I just have.

But the DR-Z can certainly its own here; buddy Peter had his own new 950 SM along for many of those miles, and its power advantage was less help than of us would have predicted. The nutty flickability, uncanny absorption and amazing grip it the king of cornering speed. And always more fun to go fast on a bike than vice

The DR-Z is even surprisingly on a long freeway drone. Its front wheel (down the stock 21-incher) makes the wildly optimistic, but the smooth, engine, perfect riding and deceptively plush seat the bike is no more annoying the first hour than any sit-up machine. And in this day of gasoline, its fuel mileage is improving: It hovered around mpg early on, but is now routinely getting mpg.

Could be the street tires or the low-friction DID ERV-3 racing chain. Who knew a chain help save 10 percent in costs-not to mention the planet?

up: As we all must, the DR-Z will return to soil. Shorter new, lightweight UFO head- and and a few dirt-specific guards (radiator, ignition-cover and clutch-cover) from (www.thumper lurk in the awaiting their chance at immortality.

On the cover of the December 2006 Sport Rider magazine the question, Is the Suzuki GSX-R750 the sportbike ever? I haven’t every sportbike there is, but at point in time, my answer be yes.

Granted, my bike stock anymore. The first I did was slip on Taylormade Racing’s street exhaust kit ($625; which looks like it off a MotoGP bike, sounds and is said to boost peak by 3 bhp. I haven’t confirmed the yet, but a dyno run is in the bike’s future.

In the past I’ve installed a fuel-management system with an aftermarket can, but the runs well with the pipe without one.

I stuck on a set of TechSpec’s Gripster Grip Skins ($39.95; which takes pressure off my by giving my legs something to onto under hard Last, a set of Rhino axle/swingarm ($64.99; should save those parts if I off like Brian did. In of track days to come, I reversed the shift pattern to my GP pattern, which is easy to do the GSX-R’s stock linkage.

My first outing with The Club at Buttonwillow Raceway showed I have some work to do. One issue was ground the adjustable footpegs scraping in of them being raised to highest position. Aftermarket are a simple (albeit expensive) and I have a set on the way. A quarter-turn should help me pin it a little

And while the Pirelli Diablo 3s I had fitted worked great on the they got greasy by day’s end at the Next time out, probably go with my favorite Pros.

last we left my long-term MV, I was obscenities as the exotic Italian fell off its stand in the Las Vegas Speedway paddock. A couple of later in the tech line at Speedway, I bumped into Boris Landoff of California Design. I’ve been to call you, I told pointing to the scratches on the MV’s flank.

Ah, wait a while, he

Talk about being enough, just two days the MV did indeed need much comprehensive paintwork, as I proved for the time the ineffectiveness of cold, tires at Buttonwillow Raceway. It have been so bad if Angie been right behind me.

At the bike didn’t appear to be too damaged. But removing the bodywork two bent fairing stays, a fairing bracket and a broken mount. Worse, after the damaged ignition cover in the photo and restarting the engine, gas from one end of the fuel rail. So investigating a cure for that too

Meanwhile, the fairing and tailpiece are at place, from which emerge in Agostini Replica big, yellow number-one just look too cool. when I dropped off the MV’s there was another set on the shop so apparently I’m not the only in Southern California.
