Suzuki GS 125 ES

Its about time I done a on this thing.

Here’s the back in 1983 Kevin’s in laws brother bought

He rode it for a year then I it was a heart … that him stop so it sat for years. In the mid 90’s it was in the garage so was dragged out by his son, no CBT etc etc and he got so it went away again.

2000 Kevin saw it in the garage and about it. A deal was struck Kevin set about getting it He then got it mot’d. However he decided to strip it down to it.

So the wheels were sent off for coating (Ј120. ), new tyres and everything painted, then it sat being put back together.

I known Kevin a few years and a few months back I never knew he had this bike!

He me if I would put it back together for him and get it I said of course.

It was stored no wheels on, carb stripped and off it and so on. also meant a lot of bolts and etc went missing.

So over the couple of months we have getting the bits together and it back up.

First thing was the wheels, no in them and spacers long So went to a bike breakers and got and bought new bearings. Ј45!

Next was a new battery (Ј25), I rebuilt the carb, I have of this will sort later. After this fuel and it fired up.

Only was the idle was about 4krpm and was to rev. The main issue was the was knackered, it was heavily corroded so the were massive after it had cleaned up. So another carb was that was taken from a bike, this sorted issue, you could also now rev it from idle to red line.

So back together it was taken out for a about, the issues were and were to be rectified.


Rear brake pulsed applied

front brake switch didn’t work

didn’t work despite new all be it 10 years ago when it was laid up

bolts needed split fitting

And that was it. So yesterday we finished the jobs off.

We down to the scrappy so I could get a for the white chamade, whilst we saw a laguna 2 with no front end and horns. So I whipped em off and got them for Not bad.

This came with 2 one low one high tone. The hi tone on this bike and the low tone go on the VFR400R.

The next was the rear brake pulsing, was due to the drum inside the wheel corrosion on it. Wheel off and sandpaper to the rust off, all in all took 30 seconds now its fine. No pictures but you imaginations.

The brake light a simple switch but was silly so I had a ponder and was sure I could something out from Maplins. So I in on Friday with Soneji and had a about for a push to break switch. I found one for Ј1.29.

So next day back at base off the brake lever etc then set making it fit. I had to grind the out a bit then cut a bit off so it would sit in properly. The were soldered on and jobs a un

Its a good wee bike though, to the 6 year old Chituma it feels as a rock, a lot safer by a mile. are pretty good as well. issue is acceleration but when used to sports bike 10 times the power I suppose it seem slow!
