Suzuki V-Strom 650 ABS Adventure

The V-Strom 650 is Suzuki’s best-selling in the UK, and there’s no surprise after one.

650cc of V-twin may not seem like a lot compared to of the bigger-capacity adventure bikes, and just 65bhp it’s going to have your glands drooling, but that’s not this bike is all about.

about doing everything, any place. With a gentle that never wants for and offers the kind of feel, and traction that means you have to worry about the rear tyre is trying to do the roads are slippery and greasy. to rev the 650 V-twin motor and it gets a vibey, but keep it friendly the revs a bit lower and it’s punchy and enjoyable.

The Bridgestone Trail Wing are fantastic in the wet, and give grip in the dry, though get hot and the blocks start moving

As we’ve been riding the version. That means you get a screen extension, engine bars and handguards. There’s a top box fitted as a Suzuki option, for chucking in a suit jacket and a bag if you need to ride to an office me).

With a 22-litre tank and you’re getting a more decent 242 miles to empty, should be more than for the weekly commute or a big trip. In compared to many bigger ‘ adventure’ bikes it does the mileage on a tank if you take it

You’ll want a big tank because even as a lanky six four rider the V-Strom is way comfortable than most of its size on the road. It’s enough in the leg and bars, and comfortable in the seat to sit for 100+miles. To be honest, aren’t many bikes I don’t need to get off after 100 but mostly because I have the span of a goldfish.

On the motorway the bike chugs happily, feeling especially at 85mph (on a private ‘motorway’ track officer), and will hit 115mph or so if you try hard, but it’s not you want to be doing too often as the gets vague and it gets a bit of a weave on with the top box full. a passenger? No problem, just up the rear pre-load with a adjuster knob and crank it up.

Ride it how it’s meant to be at a sedate, traffic friendly and it’s a bike that reward a more experienced and flatter a novice. The ABS system and rear is full-proof, there’s steering lock for even to do feet-up U-turns and in town a delight.

Tall enough to see cars, yet not as wide as many adventure bikes and plenty of stopping power if anyone out on you.

If we were being honest, and we are, it hasn’t got the same man appeal of many of the adventure bikes, or even Tiger 800. Despite the bars and the adventure style it lacks a bit of attitude, but as a package, one of the best value all-rounders on sale and brand new, version is just £7838, or the basic bike is £6899 the accessories. Even better that you can pick up the old version £2500, and that’s one hell of a lot of for the cash.
