Suzuki Out Of MotoGP In 2012 Submitted by David Emmett on Tue, 2011-11-15 18:16 It has been expected and even predicted for the past few months now, but it appears that the final confirmation is imminent. On Monday morning, web weekly GPWeek.com reported that Suzuki will not be racing in MotoGP in 2012. According to GPWeek’s Michael Scott, Rizla Suzuki team members were informed by email last Friday that Suzuki would not be racing in 2012, but that work would continue on the 1000cc prototype with the hope of returning to the series in 2014. Suzuki’s withdrawal caps a 41-year career in MotoGP, starting with privateer entries back in 1971, which took the production T500 two-… ...

Kawasaki KR250 History

Kawasaki KR250 History Kawasaki’s in road-racing go all the way back to 1965 with Dave Simmonds on a 125cc watercooled disc-valve twin. This may seem faintly exotic bearing in mind the basic aircooled piston-ported road bikes of the time but in 1967 a watercooled V4 125 (the ‘KR-3′) was experimented with. Dave won the 125cc World Championship for Kawasaki in 1969 and later campaigned the 250 (A1-R) and 350 (A7-R) aircooled twins. Throughout the 70’s, riders like Ginger Molloy, Yvon DuHamel and Barry Ditchburn raced the 500 (H1-R) and 750 (H2-R) aircooled triples with great success and these were subsequently developed and watercooled to create the H1-RW and the mental ...

Lot 301: 1973 Kawasaki 903cc Z1 A Sale of Important Motorcycles and Motorcars, Bonhams (25 October 2008) It was in late 1972 that the 2-wheel division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries displayed considerable vision by diversifying away from a not unsuccessful range of 2-strokes пїЅ personified by the rapidly accelerating 3-cylinder 500 пїЅ with a move that, to be fair, was partly prompted by the advent of stricter US pollution regulations. That yearпїЅs introduction of the new dohc 903cc Z1 caught virtually everyone by surprise, especially Honda, who suddenly found their swift-selling CB750 to be faced with some genuine marketplace opposition. Up until then HondaпїЅs Four had been ...

MotoGP™ Basics Engines There is plenty of technical language used to describe the engines which power the racing prototypes on which the riders participate in the MotoGP™ World Championship, but most of it is fairly easy to understand if taken piece by piece and explained simply, even if the machinery itself is technologically advanced and complex in nature. DEFINITIONS 2-… and 4-… — 2-… engines were predominant in the World Championship until the switch to the 990cc 4-… class in 2002, reflecting production trends, with 2-… bikes being the popular choice from the 1960s through to the 1990s. If 2-… engines proved more powerful than 4-strokes ...

KAWASAKI W650

Illustration courtesy of Kawasaki As I wrote in my article Good First Bikes . the Kawasaki W650 is a different kind of retro bike, a standard easy to mistake at first glance for a late 1960’s Triumph Bonneville. Kawasaki claims that the W650 was inspired by their own W1 twin of 1967 (itself a knockoff of the BSA A10, a pre-unit construction 650), but anyone who has seen a W1 knows the W650 looks nothing like that, and very much like the vastly more popular Bonneville. The gas tank shape, tank badges, rubber kneepads, rubber fork gaiters, cases, mufflers, seat, fenders, headlight, and paint job are all clearly influenced by late 1960’s Triumph design. This is not bad thing, as ...

Kawasaki KR500 — Classic Motobikes — Bike Reviews

Kawasaki KR500 Kawasaki has had a fleeting romance with premier class of GP racing over the last thirty odd years or so, first of all during the early seventies with Dave Simmons and Ginger Malloy on the air-cooled, roadster based triples and then with a full on radical design for a short period during the turn of the eighties before returning in more recent times with a four … Moto GP machine. Only the roadster-based racer to date has been ultimately successful with the Malloy chasing Agostini and the MV home for second overall in the 1970 championship and the late Dave Simmond’s winning the 1971 Spanish GP, so far the best result in a 500/Moto GP race by latter day Kawasaki is third ...

A new and stiffer chassis with additional weight on the front end of the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR prototype boosted both confidence and lap times of all four Fuchs Kawasaki Racing Team riders, who completed two days of private testing in Montmeló before the official IRTA test session. German test rider Alex Hofmann was also delighted with a new generation of Dunlop tires, and set the quickest time within the team so far. Former World Supersport champion Andrew Pitt and Japanese test rider Akira Yanagawa rode on the Catalunya circuit for their very first time, but also made quick and steady progress. Australian King of Slide Garry McCoy was slowed by a stiff neck and deteriorating weather ...
