Honda

Honda (Japan) Honda Motor Co. Ltd. is a major international automobile and motorcycle manufacturer with headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. Honda was formally incorporated by Soichiro Honda (1906-1991) on 9/24/48 as a successor to small firms begun by the founder from 1946, when he had ideas for a new motorbike design for post-WWII Japan. During 1992-1993, at least two shops in the US converted four-cylinder, four-stroke cycle, liquid-cooled, horizontally-opposed Honda Goldwing motorcycle engines for aircraft use. It must be borne in mind that Honda does not authorize the use of Honda engines or parts by any company, nor do they represent or warrant that their engines are suitable for use in aircraft ...

History of the Honda GI1100 eHow

History of the Honda GI1100 History In the early 1970s, Honda decided to expand its motorcycle line into more uncharted motorcycle territory. A Honda engineering team led by Shoichiro Irimajiri, who had a background in Grand Prix racing, set out to design a large, tour-type motorcycle. The product of their endeavor was the M1 motorcycle. This giant motorcycle (especially for the 1970s) had a piston output of 1,470 cc, just two shy of doubling Honda’s largest previous offering, the 736-cc CB750. In fact, the M1’s motor was larger than some car engines of its day. This motorcycle set the foundation for the GL1100. GL1100 Production In order to keep up with the increasing engine ...

Launch: Honda Goldwing F6B The blacked-out bagger is Honda’s answer to current trends while also providing a platform for those who are heading in the direction of the full biscuit Goldwing The Honda Goldwing has been transformed, with a number of its famed long-haul amenities discarded to create the new-for-2013 Japanese-made F6B. The blacked-out bagger – available with red or black bodywork — not only has a much more menacing profile than its big brother, but is 28kg lighter and definitely brings a more sporting flavour to the table – if that’s the best way to describe a bike that has a kerb weight of 385kg. At $24,990, Honda’s blueprint for the F6B is simple: it’s ...

Goldwing vs. K1600GTL – Page 2 – BMW K1600 Forum : BMW K1600 GT and GTL Forums

Goldwing BMW K1600 GTL Honda Goldwing 1800 and the BMW K1600 GTL Challenge Thanks for the information old goldwinger. The Honda Goldwing 1800 in its present state of tune and weight simply does not favourably compare to the BMW K1600. I suspect it would be difficult for Honda to lower its present hefty 900 lbs to match the BMW K1600 GTL and still maintain its present configuration and creature comforts. The basic configuration of the Honda engine does have the potential to match or even better the present K1600 output, but would require a few significant modifications to allow more efficient higher engine speeds. Simply increasing the displacement to 2000 cc may not be enough. The main ...

2014 Suzuki MotoGP Prototype Bike Spied- inline-Four Suzuki GSX-R Racer

Spied! 2014 Suzuki MotoGP Prototype! Will a GSX-R-style inline-Four replace the previous GP-only V-Four GSV-R? Insiders tell us this is a prototype for Suzuki’s return to MotoGP in 2014. While the usual pipe arrangement for a flat-crank inline-Four is 4-into-2-into-1, this bike has two long-taper megaphones, each connecting to a ...
