Hot Grips for 1998 Honda VFR 800 Interceptor Introduction It is nearing the end of November and it is starting to get cold here in Texas. That would be any temperatures below 60 F! After several lengthy rides to Dallas from Huntsville on the bikes in sub 50 F temps, I finally decided that something had to be done to keep our hands warmer. So I started asking around and looking at all the options. The options I considered are as follows: thicker gloves, electric gloves, electric liners, under grip heat strips and heated grips. Thicker gloves don’t really help much after about twenty minutes. Your hands still get cold but now you have the problem that it is more difficult to manipulate ...

Honda VFR 800 V-TEC

Those of you of a certain age will remember a snooker player called Steve Davis. Nice guy, and very successful, but not exactly what you would call an exciting player to watch. He just did the job, very efficiently, and collected prizes. There was a photocopier company who used him in their TV ads – Boringly reliable copiers was their tagline. The general opinion, certainly among my esteemed colleagues in the motorcycle press, seems to be that the VFR is the Steve Davis of motorbikes. Worthy and capable, yes, but also rather dull. Not, I have to say, that the public found that to be a problem. The VFR has always been a good seller here, perhaps because you, the buying public, are more ...

Off Center: 1986 Honda VFR Interceptor – Motorcyclist Magazine

V4 Vindication My expectations were steep and precarious, the sort of structure that comes crashing down in the first stiff gust of reality. After being yanked from a stack of resumes on Editor Phil Schilling’s desk into a tiny office at Cycle magazine’s Westlake Village command center, everything I knew about motorcycles buckled under the weight of all there was to learn. But one thing I was sure of: Honda’s 1986 VFR was it-the Alpha and Omega of everything I could expect or aspire to. An ’83 VF750F Interceptor would rip my ’83 Suzuki GS750E a new exhaust sphincter, even under a rider lacking the facility to walk while chewing a stick of Wrigley’s Spearmint. ...

Honda VFR800 – Video Encyclopedia

Contents History [ edit ] From its first sales in 1986, the VFR750F scored highly on many press reviews. While it was originally intended to be a sports bike, the introduction of lighter competitors (including the nearly 30kg or 66lb lighter GSX-R750 ) prompted Honda in 1990 to transition the VFR into a mid-sized sport touring bike, a category of which the VFR became the de facto benchmark. However, by 1997, Triumph and Ducati presented Honda with significant sports-touring competition, so Honda responded with a redesigned VFR800 in 1998. Fifth Generation: 1998-2001 [ edit ] Rather than being a direct development of the previous carbureted VFR750F engine, the VFR800 engine was a detuned ...

Honda VFR-800 Oil Questions

Questions and Answers Honda VFR-800 Oil Questions Q. Dear Vincent, Had my motor bike with oil that had done about 2,500 miles and been in the bike about six months whilst in constant use. During the mild winter here in Melbourne Australia the bike had been sitting in my garage for six weeks but the oil had not been drained at all, still left there in the sump so the oil galleries were not drained etc. and the oil filter still on. After six weeks of not starting the bike at all not even winterizing before hand, I drained the old oil and filter and put in fresh old and new filter. When I started the bike the oil pressure light was on for about 2-3 seconds then went out, no strange noises or ...
