Carburetor conversion – Quota 1000, Quota 1100 ES – Moto Guzzi – Gregory Bender

Carburetor conversion Moto Guzzi Quota 1000, Quota 1100 ES Updated: 2011 Jul 04 Dave Keeling’s conversion Thanks to Dave Keeling who sent me this information about how he converted is Quota 1100 from Electronic Fuel Injection to a Carburetor. In Dave’s own words: After putting up with the poor running of the Quota engine, due to the simple fuel injection system and reading on the Quota forum that the prototype was developed with a Weber carb, I decided to try it. I strobed the rotor, removing the various inputs to the ECU, they appeared to have no effect on the advance curve. The only one I couldn’t check was the T.P.I. of which I could set later if necessary. The throttle ...

RideApart Review: Moto Guzzi V7 Racer Record RideApart

RideApart Review: Moto Guzzi V7 Racer Record What’s New : There’s a couple things going on here, so let’s start at the beginning. First, Guzzi’s V7 range has been comprehensively refreshed for 2013. The engine is 70 percent new and equipped with a distinctive, single, central throttle body. While a power increase from 48 to 50bhp may not sound like much, but it makes that peak power at 6,200rpm, 500rpm lower in the rev range and as much power as the previous model’s peak 1,000rpm lower. That’s a notably more full mid-range. Fuel economy also benefits, now 55mpg the V7’s 5.8 gallon tank delivers an incredibly useful 310-mile range. Torque increases only a single pound-foot ...

2012 Moto Guzzi Griso 8V SE Road Test Review- Motorcycle First Rides

Moto Guzzi Griso 8V SE – First Ride Lasting character. Photography by Jeff Allen When the Moto Guzzi Griso hit the market back in 2006, the sporty naked’s fresh styling and visceral twin-cylinder performance offered timely promise that the classic Italian bike maker had landed rubber side down and would forge full-speed ahead under its new Piaggio Group leadership. The second-generation Griso that followed maintained this momentum with its “Quattrovalvole” 1151cc transverse 90-degree V-Twin supplanting the original’s 1100 Breva-based mill. Our full road test of the jet-black Griso 1200 8V (March, 2009) left little doubt as to the positive headway being made within the revitalized ...

2011 Moto Guzzi Norge GT 8V: MD Ride Review (with MD Video Review) …

2011 Moto Guzzi Norge GT 8V: MD Ride Review (with MD Video Review) The historic Moto Guzzi brand has many loyal followers, but has never sold in large volumes here in the United States. When it was acquired, and revived, by the conglomerate Piaggio several years ago. money began to be infused to refine and improve both the chassis and the traditional v-twin engine. The Norge tourer is largely unknown to Americans. Although you could purchase the prior version of the Norge, it is quite rare to see one on the highway here in the U.S. I therefore will not bore you with all of the detail changes between the prior model and the subject of this test, which is the 2011 Norge GT 8V. Having said that, ...

Moto Guzzi Sport 1100

Moto Guzzi Sport 1100 Italian Fast Manoeuvre Torpedo Boat – Performance Bikes Enhancements and Modifications Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke – or you know it’s gonna break anyway – Dave Richardson My current bike is a Moto Guzzi Sport 1100. I sure hope it’s gonna stay that way [knock on wood], as I’ve really come to like her. Actually, this is the second Sport 1100 I’ve owned – the first one was knicked by some fsck’ing bastards right from under my living room window. Here’s an account of my initial testride that led to this case of Guzziology. Like a friend of mine says: Guzzis are like wine. The older they get, the ...

First Impression: 1997 Moto Guzzi V10 Centauro If you’re familiar with Greek mythology, you’ll know that the Centaur was a half-man, half-horse beast. While Moto Guzzi’s all-new V10 Centauro doesn’t exactly fit the Greek description of its namesake, it sure is a hell of a lot of motorcycle. First, what can you say about its unique design? Like Ducati’s M-900 Monster, this bike is styled to provoke an intense emotional response. With its striking silhouette and yellow/metallic gray dressing the Centauro attracts a host of curious bystanders. Some are drawn to its unique styling, others turn up their noses. Love or leave it, Moto Guzzi’s Centauro slaps you ...

Moto Guzzi National Owners Club – Does Moto Guzzi Make them better after…

Does Moto Guzzi Make them better after 25 years. by John Zibell The 1973 Eldorado vs the 1998 V11 EV Many of you are probably saying Moto What? You can tell that the company isn’t managed by the CIA, since few even know it exists. Yet it is the second oldest motorcycle manufacturer to sustain continuous operation, second only to Harley Davidson. The Eldorado was the best selling model Moto Guzzi ever produced. There are probably more Eldorados still running around the country than any other model produced by Guzzi. One version, the 850 California inspired a series that to some degree is still in production. The 1998 V11 EV is based in the California tradition. You can look at the specification ...

Moto Guzzi Rare SportBikes For Sale

Thunder Down Under? 1996 Moto Guzzi Daytona Racing 1000 #13/100 Moto Guzzis are very vicersal visceral machines – lots of engine and presence, noise and style. Basically, exactly what you expect from an Italian machine. Unlike the other Italian v-twin motorcycle company, however, Moto Guzzi is not exactly known for super high performance or for creating an endless stream of limited editions of their bikes. When a one-year Guzzi with number plate on the headstock comes along, it might be time to take notice. Especially when that bike has only 12 miles. 1996 Moto Guzzi Daytona Racing for sale on eBay Guzzi afficianados (and you know who you are) are probably able to tell you that the ...

Moto Guzzi National Owners Club – Ask the Wrench

Ask the Wrench. by Dave Richardson I haven’t had any juicy questions to answer lately, thus the lack of articles. What’s going on? Are your bikes all running perfectly? I did have some recent experiences that gave me real insight into the new V11 Sport. First off, I got to peruse Moto America’s parts department during their April 30th Open House (Actually, they put me to work doing inventory!) and saw many of the new bikes’ drive train components. Secondly, Dr. John Wittner was there, and he tolerated my many quasi-technical questions. And last, a customer purchasing a V11 Sport requested that we put the first 500 miles on his bike so it could have its first service ...
