Moto Guzzi Imola 350 Road Test

Moto Guzzi Imola 350 Road Test Moto Guzzi are out to build the ultimate half-litre street racer and they are convinced that they can do it without a high-revving overhead-cam motor — and without 50bhp. The discrete spec-sheet for the new Imola 350 carries a photo of a Guzzi 350cc single pipping a Gilera four on the line at Monza in the mid-fifties and above the photo is the Moto Guzzi Golden Eagle, from days of yore, which has replaced the modern tank badge on the new Imola. This is subliminal advertising at its best, and with no text to pound the message home. The Golden Eagle on the factory is only begin-that Guzzi are out to do on the road what they did on the race tracks back in ...

Custom Moto Guzzi V35 BikeVX

Custom Moto Guzzi V35 Black Boot by Marco Matteucci I’ve always known that certain people just have a knack for something. Having very little (if any) experience, they can just do, what they think is right and get unbelievably great results. To prove that, I present you this Marco Matteucci’s custom Moto Guzzi and tell the story how he came up with this the idea of becoming a bike builder. While others are hesitating to change even a small detail about their motorcycles, Marco, who had never hold a spanner in his hand and hadn’t even changed oil once, bought this old Moto Gozzi V35 from 1982, stripped it down and for the first time in his life, performed a complete ground up rebuild ...

Moto Guzzi

Moto Guzzi They brought the First World War: Giorgio Parodi was a military pilot, and Carlo Guzzi — his mechanic. When peace came, they decided to start producing motorcycles. Guzzi took over the design of the machine, and Parodi — the organization of production (venture funded by his father, the owner of the steamship lines). The experimental samples were carrying the brand GP (ie Guzzi-Parodi), but March 21, 1921 the newly formed company was registered under the name of Societa Anonima Moto Guzzi. Designed by Carlo Guzzi motorcycle completely departed from the established canons in those years — at least with regard to the power unit. The cylinder is horizontal, and reducing ...

Moto Guzzi Wha’ever!

Tag Archives: Moto Guzzi Summerholidays 2009 One entire month without a single blog post, tweet or dent. Other people are only announcing their summer-offline-phase but I was really living it. And I must say that I feel somehow very relaxed, no feeling that I missed out on something etc. So what on earth did I do during the last 4 weeks? — Moving boxes and a few furniture up from the parents base camp in Germany into the new (gorgeous!) flat — one day spent in all different kinds of “Baumarkt” that Norrköping has to offer (I have a pretty good knowledge now about prices and ranges at i.e. Bauhaus and K-Rauta ) — another day was spent at Linköping IKEA – resulting ...

Ready To Rumble! They say: For collectors in search of vintage appeal. We say: . They’ve found it! They say: For collectors in search of vintage appeal. We say. They’ve found it! Is it ironic that the East Coast had an earthquake the same day as the Moto Guzzi Cafe Racer Rumble? And did I, as my fellow attendees suggested, somehow bring it with me? Unlikely, consider-ing I was talking to Billy Joel at the time and neither of us noticed it. What was I doing with The Piano Man? Good question. The short answer is, Piaggio USA invited me to attend an event at his shop, 20th Century Cycles, to promote the new Moto Guzzi V7 Racer. While I was there, they promised I could borrow a ...

Moto Guzzi V50: 1977-1989 Rider Magazine

Retrospective: Moto Guzzi V50: 1977-1989 Clement Salvadori June 22, 2008 (This Retrospective article was printed in the July 2008 issue of Rider Magazine.) In the mid-1970s Moto Guzzi’s outlook was affected by Alessandro de Tomaso, an Argentine of Italian background who purchased the factory lock, stock and cylinder barrel. His marketing types took a look at the line of motorcycles and saw a pleasing array of big twins, running 850- to 1,000cc. They decided that a smaller version had a place in the market, and all hands went to work to build a half-liter model. The factory’s lead engineer, Lino Tonti, was in charge, and he essentially downsized the 850 everywhere while using the ...

Who is Elisa? Elisa Travels

Who is Elisa? Elisa is a very determined v35 Imola lady from the Moto Guzzi family. She was born in 1983 and then came to Sweden where she had several owners. Among them was the famous Swedish Speedway rider Einar Lindqvist. He loved motorcycles, especially Italian ones, and collected a large number over time. Nowadays one can take a look at these at the Motala Motormuseum . Since Elisa used to be part of Einar’s collection, even she spent 2 years of her life at that museum. Eventually she got sold to a new proud owner. Now she could smell proper garage air again and she was even allowed to run about 500 km a year through Östergötland. Not super exciting maybe, but clearly better than ...
